Reading the posts its looks like welding seams to be a problem if anyone is interested you could bring your welders to my workshop one weekend and i could try and show you the basics on prep and patching be nice to meet some of you I've got a kettle but you will have to bring your own biscuits I'm i...

Yes can get ash from a specialist joinery supplier its not cheap but available and they are only next door to me

Buy some seam sealed or tiger seal it can make any weld look a million dollars its easier and a better job to cut out the bad bit and weld the plate in flush

Check your gas is on turn up your wire feed and slow down it looks like you need to practice but don't try on new steel find some old stuff it does weld different set up on a bench its a good job your into moggies and not patching a boat hull
