That's why I've asked for opinion from people with more experience with Morris , I'm in the processe of removing the engine ither to take it to work and rebuild it over winter or store it and get un upgrade engine... (No point rebuilding the 803 and then have to buy un upgrade have plenty of other p...

Tanks for your comments, I just didn't know if by changing engine I would actually lose value on the car, it is the original engine . The car is mainly going to be used locally and I do have a few hills on my Dailey commute . Was looking on eBay and can't find any 948 engine , there's a few 1098 . S...

Upgrade engine or not?
The Morris I'm restoring has the 803 cc engine( 1955 ) and everyone is telling me I should upgrade the engine for a 1100 Morris engine or the 1275cc midget engine?? I think I should stick with the 803cc but they tell me that it won't be practical for today's roads ?? What's you're thoughts ? Cheers

Yes we have that right , we checked as well each spark to make sure there's a spark in each one , all looks right ...When we took spark plug out could smell fuel , so there's fuel getting to the plugs , but Could it be that there's not enough oil in carb and not opening carb needle enough not allowi...

Have new points, condenser , plugs, distribuitor cap , fitted ... And manage to get a spark at the plugs!!!
now just need to get the engine to start
, there's fuel getting to the plugs , but manage to flatten the battery before could get it started

Had my mechanic friend having a look and he thinks its positive earth , due to terminals , age of car and dynamo instead of alternator , we have power at the coil , the lead that comes of the coil is damage and there's no power getting to the distributor . So we are replacing the lot to make sure it...

Fuel pump fixed , so no need to by new one. There's power going to coil , so just ordered new distributor cap , new plugs, new plug leads , points ... Will let you know how I get on

I will test the coil connection tomorrow , the previous owner disconnect some wires inside the car and engine bay still trying to work out where they go...
I will try to fix my fuel pump instead of replacing it , ordered new points from ANDREW EGGLETON , just waiting delivery.

Ok battery has a cup terminal connected to main wiring and there's a normal looking terminal connected to the body , I've tried everything u said and there's no spark coming from coil ,(engine turns over in ither way battery is connected),so should be coil problem , wiring or fuse problem , try to c...

Not sure if its a dynamo or alternator , looks like alternator to me :oops: , the lead that goes to the cap has tape on it holding it together , that's why I want to change it , haven't done many tests yet , jus took a spark plug out and seen there's no spark . Still need other bits as well , fuel p...

I don't get a spark ,waiting delivery on a set of plug leads . the positive terminal does look small on the battery and negative slight big on battery
