Re: won't start

Re the violently vibrating engine when it does eventually start. Have you fitted those new leads in the correct 1-3-4-2 firing order? Trouble is that you have renewed a great many parts all at the same time so it will be difficult to eliminate any particular wrongly fitted item. If you turn on the ...

Have you checked your needle isn't blocked? - the holes on those things are tiny and it just needs one bit of muck to stop the thing... You mean the jet? The needle does not have holes in it. Yes... I meant the jet  The Nikki famous word-misuse strikes again... Earlier on today I asked my par...

Hello SB, S.U.'s are pretty basic, so you could have an ignition or mechanical problem. First is to ensure that the carburettor is set correctly, as you have been adjusting it. Take the piston\dashpot assembly off and set the jet flush, then back off 12 flats, switch on the ignition and ensure that...

If you get water in the float chamber the car will never start until you have removed all traces of it. If you are still ha...

I would check that the points haven't closed up, especially as you say the plugs have petrol on them. If the points gap is OK, then it is a check throughout the ignition system.

If you have leaned it right out then it will probably need a LOT of choke. Have you tried richening it...
