The squeeling could also be coming from a bearing in the alternator, a friend of mine had it with a dodgy one he fitted to his mini...

Re: Axle leaking/ diff getting hot???
How did I know you'd slate gas dampers hehehe.... They're bolted to a cross member which is bolted through the boot floor, and welded at each end onto the chassis legs. Fronts are bolted onto the original damper mounting bolts. Any problems I have in the future I'll let you know and you can say I to...

Re: Axle leaking/ diff getting hot???
BMC - no longer use the oil dampers, I've replaced them with gas spax ones... Although I had replaced the oil prior to fitting the gas dampers. Have to say the fas ones are much better, although a lot more expensive! I'm doing automotive engineering at uni, so hopefully may be able to use their kit ...

Just to let you know, I arrived at uni with the car all fine, drove like a new car with the uprated suspension! Turn in much nicer, and corners ALOT flatter hehehe.

Re: Axle leaking/ diff getting hot???
Thank you very much Phil! Everyone's always so helpful on here :) The U bolts are indeed tight, and I couldn't see any severe corrosion or any cracking when I had the axle disconnected. By hot, I mean you can hold your handnon it for maybe 5 seconds, then its too hot! I topped up the rear axle befor...

Axle leaking/ diff getting hot???
Hi there everyone, I've had a small leak of what I now know to be ep90 from the axle (originally thought it may have been the damper leaking, but I've replaced them with gasdampers now, while I replaced all the bushes and swapped to 7 leaf springs). It appears to be coming from somewhere around the ...

Re: Renewing heater hoses on late 1000
Fitted mine the other day after the old dodgy heater tap exploded! (Hence the rusty water covering my engine bay).
Any tips on cleaning out the bay? Mr muscle and a hose? What about cleaning off the dizzy and electric bits? Cheers

wiring diagram for hazard flasher unit?
Hi there everyone,
I've got an indicator + hazard flasher unit (SWT106A) from ESM, and I've got no clue how to wire it! Does anyone know how, or have a schematic?
Many thanks
Tudge

Re: wiring for temp & oil gauge
You can calibrate electrical temp gauges by measuring the water temp with a thermometer and adding resistors in series with the temp sender to get your gauge the same if you haven't got the right sensor for that gauge.

Re: Undoing door bolts, what to use?
If you look in the mechanical threads section, there is a list of spanner & thread sizes, at the top as stickies
According to these, the door to a post bolts are 1/4 inch whitworth.

I never try to spin the wheels up for wheel spinning's sake, but it's nice to be able too hehehe. Plus wheel spin is SO much better than tramping...
And cheers Richard, that may be the best bet.

Re: FRONT SUSPENSION
Not that I'm trying to argue with you BMC, and I'll agree that the JLH kits do seem to be the best reviewed by a long way, lots of people have used other supplier's kits and loved them...(ie chrisryder who had refilled his dampers before changing over) I will certainly try to save up for the JLH kit...

Re: FRONT SUSPENSION
Cracking advice cheers everyone. I'm thinking I'll go 7 leaf springs with lowering blocks then, and, when money eventually finds its way into my bank account I'll invest in some tele dampers! (and possibly radius arms and have the springs rest to do away with the lowering blocks).. And I need an esc...

You can definately get compression lowering head gaskets. http://www.vmaxscart.co.uk/supercharger-parts/
Under 'decompression plate'... Pretty pricey though.
