thanks for information,
I have new oil seal, was going to replace bush as gearbox was out of car,dont think I will bother now as not that bad. trying to make 1 good box out of 2. is it possible to remove reverse gear without stripping down box.

cheers rich, my car has had replacement floor panel and is welded to inner cill so will not be sandwiched between cills.

hi all
new poster here, just started working on my moggie which I have had in a lock up for 19 years. what I need to know is does the boxing plate need to be welded to the cills as as cills fitted were made up and boxing plate rotted,
