Re: Head gasket and knocking noise??!!
Thank you for all the replies, luckily it is just a head gasket! Is it worth grinding in the valves while I have the head off? Many thanks

Head gasket and knocking noise??!!
Last night I pulled away from a junction, changed to second and then all of a sudden a knocking noise came on and I lost nearly all power. I got recovered home as it had no power and wouldn't even idle, chucking out smoke (couldn't tell the colour as it was pitch black out). This morning I have had ...

Re: ignition timing problems. Wont pink
Apologies about bringing this thread back up. I have found for my standard 948 the optimum power to be at 7.5 degrees advanced static for any others out there who have had problems sorting ignition out I would imagine this would be a good place to start. I can feel I have more power at this setting,...

Re: knocking noise
You have to be stopped to get it in first no? If I try to put it in first when moving it just crunches as there is no syncro on first gear? I will have a look at the exhaust tomorrow it would make sense as I guess it is at the same revs where it happens pulling away and occasionally in second, reson...

Re: knocking noise
It happens when I pull off and sometimes in traffic when rolling, so pulling in second gear but would probably be more appropriate in first but obviously can't get in first as I'm rolling. I have checked all engine mounts and steady bar its all OK.. Really have no idea

knocking noise
Since 2 days ago I have been having a problem with a knocking noise. It happens when I pull away in first, and the noise is coming from the engine bay. The noise is exactly the noise if you accelerate in a gear to high, but it happnes pulling away in first now. Any Ideas?
Many thanks in advance

Re: wiper moter and fuses!
The motor itself isnt burnt out, it works fine with the top hat wire disconnected, its just when I attach the top hat wire when I turn the wipers on it blows the fuse. I swapped the green and green/black wires over (to how they should be viewing others photos) and the wipers ran on their own with th...

Re: wiper moter and fuses!
I removed the black wire (apologise as the black wire headed into the loom with the others not to pump) and then had no wipers at all. For some reason it wont let me upload any photos on here :-? but looking at my wiper motor I have a (black/green wire) above the green wire on the motor could this b...

wiper moter and fuses!
After packing with grease in the wiper mechanism I noticed a free wire hanging from the box that I found was supposed to be in the top hat! Upon researching this I found out that this helps park the wipers! I never knew minor wipers went back down when I turn them off, brilliant I thought! So this m...

Re: ignition timing problems. Wont pink
Its ok, i think i will get one from accuspark or simonbbc, they seem so cheap!! I dont have a strobe unfortunately, but she seems to be running fine so i am going to leave her how she is. it isnt kicking against the starter and starts on the first nanosecond of pulling the starter so i think all is ...

Re: ignition timing problems. Wont pink
i have 33psi in the tyres, i think i will stay and get the 25d dizzy as i have read the advanced curves are modernised, and 25ds where fitted to later 948's so probably more suitable.

Re: ignition timing problems. Wont pink
I think that i may just get a new 25d (maybe go electronic) and put this dm2 in the boot as a spare (see if the advance curves match up better)
