Ok,sorry for delay in replying but have a dose of c19.Over it now.
My gauge has the two adjusting nuts on the back so I am assuming I need an old sensor? Tried everything else,just will not work.John.

The ignition switch lead to opposite side of gauge.

Everything checks out and yes,it is genuine old Smiths.Tried swapping leads with same result,ie,goes to 30 on gauge.

Sensor is correctly earthed and gauge goes to start point when ignition is on. As engine warms no other movement from gauge.

Hi all,help needed again!
Trying to fit Smiths water temp gauge to my ‘52.Now tried two sensors but neither work,seems I need to get a Smiths sensor? Can anyone help with this?

Hi all,just purchased a set of rings for my side valve MM.I take it the bottom ring is just to hold the piston steady.? Mine has dowels in the bottom ring lands. Should there be a correct way to gap the ring?the dowel is approx 4mm so impossible to gap to 2 thou.4 ring pistons.

Re my last post,is there anyone on here who can regrind the crank and supply bearings for my sidevalve engine? I know there are numerous engineering shops around but I would prefer someone here to do the job.Or has anyone got a good crank with bearings for sale?
