Re: 1956 1000's

Its our little Felix's (NFO 727) birthday this coming Friday , having been first registered on 17/1/57 so I would assume he was manufactured in 1956 unless distribution off the production line was pretty quick in those days. 2 door , black , red interior , van wheels but with a later 1098 engine. Oh...

Re: Lower Door hinge shim

Simmitc - great advice , cheers. I'm off tomorrow so will attempt to insert my own shim for the time being just to see if that is indeed the solution. I'll be leaving one bolt in - as you've suggested.

much appreciated.

Garry.

Lower Door hinge shim

Guys - need a bit of advice please . The drivers door (2 door) has dropped and I've come to the conclusion that if I put a washer behind each of the 3 bolts in the lower hinge , or insert a shim this will realign the door correctly.(having wedged a small piece of ally metal in there to test) I've lo...

"spot on" with the poor connection julie4morris - its was a bad earth, since I noticed the drivers headlight was slightly dull in comparison to the passenger side.

Re: Could this be fraud? (V5c on ebay)

I've seen this a few times over the last 18 months , mostly Ford Escort Mexico and Rs logbooks going for huge sums of money..... oh , and dont forget the plates/VIN/V5 come with a completely rusted out bodyshell. Quick way to turn your Escort base with 1600cc , mexico wings and six dial dash into a ...

Spotlights going off on full beam

Guys - have a pair of Lucas LR6 driving lamps mounted on the front bumper , all has been fine for the last few weeks they give a little more light on full beam - enough to show oncoming motorists that I'm on full beam and you'll need to dip please!. Me and my son were on the way to squash tonight an...

Re: Spotted today.

On New Years Eve spotted a grey traveller going south on the A483 between Oswestry and Welshpool (Shropshire/Powys border), keeping up a very respectful 50 mph. And a white convertible with maroon hood parked outside the The Walls restaurant in Oswestry 559 XUX (I think). Almost missed the corner op...

Re: road tax for Felix - simple

Yes Matt , I had the very same thought as I was travelling the eight miles to the village with the only PO open on Wednesday afternoon. (old traditions dont die off up here) It was slightly un-nerving thinking there's not a bean on the windscreen , a hole in my floor with only the drivers seat prese...

road tax for Felix - simple

Well the welding continues on Felix here on Welsh Borders and being a 1957 Moggie I'd thought I'd have a go at getting him insured and taxed. One of the many comparison web sites went off and 'compared' quotes for me , my wife and my 17yr old son and came back with 9 results with a difference of £50...

Rae - I'm only down the road in Llanymynech if you want a second opinion on anything. I'm not a Minor expert but having had mine for just over a month I'm discovering little 'gems' everyday

Re: Felix

Rear wing primed and painted , although its difficult to get the depth with a couple of cans of Halfords gloss black. Its suprising what elbow grease does and some resin polish , although I'm going to have to get Felix in the garage to spray the roof and boot - but that'll be later this month.[frame...

Re: any members in mid wales

Hi I've recently joined and live in the border village of Llanymynech. We've recently purchased Felix ( NFO 727 ) off flea bay from sunny Somerset (Frome). Having recently returned from a 2 week camping trip to Lizard point (324 miles) I did'nt think Frome was that far (just past Bristol - 180 miles...

Felix

See Newbie from Powys/shropshire border in the General section for an introduction to Felix. We've had him 5 days now and every day one of us has sat in him , started him , cleaned him and laughed at his cheesy black grille and rusty roof. See pics below , he seems to a little high on the front but ...
