Re: Boo Car failed MOT, insurance advice

I'll try that garage next time. There was a bike in the back seat because my stupid boyfriend decided to put it in there to get to rutland water. He was taking the bike out, slipped and now the headlining has ripped. He didnt tell me because he knew i would be mad. Rightly so! He has promised me he ...

Re: Boo Car failed MOT, insurance advice

It was actually my boyfriend who took it for the MOT and the garage is classic friendly. An independent garage and the owner has morris minors and travellers himself. I've since spoken to my boyfriend about the windscreen sealant and he seems to think he has heard wrong and it is something else enti...

Re: Boo Car failed MOT, insurance advice

Hi, Yes, the £250 was for all the MOT failings. Which to be honest, I didn't think was too bad considering when my Corsa failed it was about £400 to fix brakes and sensors etc. I didn't realise the windscreen sealant was part of the MOT either. It has been leaking a bit in bad rain. If anyone can cl...

Boo Car failed MOT, insurance advice

Myrtle failed her MOT today on silly things. The hose connecting windscreen wash to wipers needs replacing, bulb had gone (I checked these last night grrrr!), the sealant around the windscreen needs replacing and she needs some welding. Was quoted £250. However, what my boyfriend has failed to tell ...

Attempted break in to my Morris.

I don't have the facilities to park my morris on a driveway so she gets parked up on a street. I noticed tonight that the front drivers side door handle was wobbly. Upon further inspection there are paint chips and it looks like someone has tried opening the handle with a screwdriver or some tool. T...

What do you clean your car with?

Cleaning Myrtle is long overdue. I'm just wondering what products you use? What gives you the best finish or protection?

Re: Snow, Snow - Quick, Quick...SNOW!

I got Myrtle started today (without help from battery charger). I love the idea of using a bonnet for a snow sledge. Genius idea. I shall be on the look out for a spare bonnet. I'm a teacher and am secretly hoping for a snow day tomorrow (just to catch up on assessments etc). It is no fun teaching 3...

Re: Snow, Snow - Quick, Quick...SNOW!

Fab! I shall invest in one of them solar trickle chargers. You can't go wrong for £9.99! I'm looking to move house soon. One of the requirements and priorities to find somewhere with a drive (at least) and garage. I shall get there once the weather is warmer and sort out the chrome. Someone suggeste...

Re: Snow, Snow - Quick, Quick...SNOW!

carrying a car battery in and out of my house isn't a very practical suggestion. I have to sometimes park the car a couple of streets away and have you ever felt the weight of a car battery?

Re: Snow, Snow - Quick, Quick...SNOW!

Myrtle is having to be kept outside during this bad weather. I don't have a garage or a car port. She has already become a victim of a flat battery. Anything I can do to keep her in reasonable shape during icey/snowy weather. I've been putting a car cover over her. Taken it off to let her get a bit ...

Re: I'm am slowly giving up on my MM. One problem after another

Arh! Brucek I sense a North/South divide. I notice you are in Lincoln. Not too far from me! I go there quite regularly from Deeping St James for work courses. Haven't tackled any hill starts yet in the morris! I'm thinking of joining the young persons morris minor club too (but then I only have 3 mo...

Re: I'm am slowly giving up on my MM. One problem after another

Aww, thanks guys. Well, I've ordered a new spring throttle return (that should eradicate the accelerator getting stuck issue). But since stretching the old one it's been okay! My boyfriend has used it the last couple of days (taken it to Leicester which is a good 50 mile round trip) and it had no is...

Re: I'm am slowly giving up on my MM. One problem after another

My local branch - Lincolnshire has a one in one out policy. I think I have to wait until someone dies to get in! I may have to join Cambridgshire or Northamptonshire instead.

Re: I'm am slowly giving up on my MM. One problem after another

Mine certainly has a personality of it's own, a lazy one! Doesn't want to start in the mornings and would prefer sitting pretty at the side of the road. Or broken down on the side of the road. I shall persevere. I never thought I would say this, a lady at the age of 29 but I think I need to e...

Re: I'm am slowly giving up on my MM. One problem after another

I've sent you a message Marky B. After my boyfriend lifted up the bonnet, the problem was with the spring on the accelerator. He stretched it and it seemed to do the job, Working and no need to call breakdown but probably only a matter of time before I have to. Is it worth me taking car for a servic...

I'm am slowly giving up on my MM. One problem after another

I love my morris minor dearly, only owned it for a month or so but I am fast giving up on it. I expect problems with a classic car but it seems to be one problem after another. First the brake cylinder and break shoes need replacing cos of leaking break fluid. Recently the car has become reluctant t...

Not always starting...

My moggy usually starts perfectly first time but in the last week it's been having some problems and today lots of problems! Boyfriend used it the other day and mentioned how it took him 5 attempts to start the car. I went to use it today and had the same problem. My first attempt, had the choke ful...

Stamford Lincolnshire Classic Car show *FREE entry*

Anybody going to this? I think I will although I'm in two minds whether to take the moggy as I only live a 5 minute drive from the riverside and parking in Stamford can be a bit of a nightmare.

Re: Spotted today.

I saw a trafalgar blue (think 2 door) convertible whilst on holiday in Somerset last week. It was on a stretch of road between Wells and Weston Super Mare with a female driver. I was in a Vauxhall Corsa so didn't wave in fear of looking a fool. Is it the done think for Morris Minor owners to wave wh...

Re: Myrtle is leaking something!

It was the previous owners who put her through the MOT. Brakes were fine. When I purchased her, the braking wasn't good but I think that's because I had never driven a car with drum brakes. The brake pedal felt fine, it wasn't pulling to one side and there were no leaks. I think it's just one of the...
