Been watching a 1973 Mini on Fleabay. Contacted the seller who says..."Sorry, it's not tax-free".
Surely it should be...is it not just a hard-and-fast rule that it's tax free if over 25 years old?

Anybody ever shipped a small car over to the UK from the Channel Islands? I've found one that interests me, but I need to build the cost of UK shipping + UK registration into the equation.
Any advice will be greatly received...this is a totally unknown area pour moi.

Sounds very much like the trans is indeed slipping....I fear the worst.
My only personal experience with an auto was my little Datsun 120Y. Great little car, till one day I put it into drive and it went nowhere at all, refused to budge an inch.

I'll be keeping the Astra for now. I was looking ahead a year or two, considering fuel prices and road tax issues. Motoring will become expensive, I've no doubt. Little electric cars are being built, and are supposed to be the way ahead. They can only reach 40mph or so, and need to be re-charged eve...

Might seem like sacrelidge, but the way motoring costs are spiraling...I've seriously given a lot of thought to selling (or swapping) my beloved classic for a decent Mini. :o For guys like me who live in a rural part of the country, an everyday small car, 1000cc and quick enough to keep up with mode...

Arrived today. :D OK, chaps....what's the script RE: checking timing on the old Mogster? I mean, I had a quick look for timing marks on the pulley and couldn't see them. :o Bloody radiator is in the way. :D So, c'mon chaps...how do you do yours? The timing gun is a draper model, before anybody asks....
