Re: Lawnmower Carburettor Ethanol ?

My mower fitted with a Honda OHC engine started 2nd pull after standing all winter in the shed. The carb is fitted with a choke which helps. Most Honda engines fitted to lawn mowers have a float chamber drain facility or the ability to easily remove the float chamber to drain. After a summer of mowi...

Re: Ford gearbox

Thanks for the clarification.
The angle of the classic Mini Cooper S HS 2 carb is slightly different to that of the MG Midget so I would suggest that the angle of the carbs is clarified as the float chamber fuel level could be effected

Re: Breather systems

The side seals must overlap the sump neoprene gaskets and they must abut hard against the main bearing caps.
That is why the side gaskets must be fitted first.
That neoprene seal looks to be too long.

Re: Breather systems

The problem with the neoprene seals is that they are near solid and cannot compress like the cork seal. The neoprene seals only appear to be available for the 1275cc engine and that has a larger radius rear sump opening so requiring a longer seal (Pt No: TAM1089) and different sump. The front seal f...

Re: Breather systems

As regards the neoprene sump end seals - they may need to be trimmed in length to suit.

Re: Clutch cylinder

The ring seal is for the alternative after market piston fitted to some slave cylinders.

If your slave cylinder does not have the ring seal ditch the ring seal.

Re: Opening up a 202 head

I suspect that you have put the above as an example but I notice that the head in the above photo is not a 202 item and you have removed the manifold locating rings which are there to line up the manifolds and so aid gas flow.

Re: Ford gearbox

If the Cooper S exhaust manifold is a ex factory pressed steel item and is intended to be fitted a Minor it will hit the chassis leg. I suspect that any aftermarket Classic Mini LCB exhaust manifold will do the same. The throw out of the bottom of the manifold is there to clear the Mini gearbox ther...

Re: Opening up a 202 head

I have to agree with Les. If you want improvement - source a 12G295 head, skim 0.060" from the head face and you have a very good and efficient head without having to do much work. The down side of the 12G295 head is the price. :-( Saying that here is a 12G295 head going cheap (at the moment) h...

Re: Clutch Master cylinder used with Toyota 5 speed box

I believe that the Toyota 5 speed conversion done by the Morris Minor Centre for use in a Morris Minor used the clutch release mechanical linkage. The hydraulic clutch release system was used on the MG Midget/Sprite conversion. For example - you can use a clutch master cylinder fitted to the cross m...

Re: Rear brake shoes

Having just checked the various greases and lubricant I have (at least 10) non of them have a use by or sell by date.
So long as the grease is in a sealed container it will not deteriorate.
I would agree with the argument for regular quality control/testing of lubricants used in the aircraft industry.
