Re: crossflow into moggie

Possibly an eats shoots and leaves situation here.

I think it should read 'just a change to: electrics, prop-shaft, anything else?'

Re: filling tecalimet grease gun

Thanks for the drawing, the cork plunger is slightly tapered and can go in easily enough just pressure builds up behind it and I can't force it down and put the lid on. I thought maybe there's old grease clogging it up so cleaned the plunger mechanism with hot water and laundry detergent. Went in fi...

filling tecalimet grease gun

OK I have issues every time I fill my old tecalimet grease gun. I put the grease in about half way and try to push the assembly on top of it. As soon as the cork gets into the barrel it just ceases up I can't get the lid on. Am I doing it all wrong, is there something blocked. I managed to fill it o...

Re: can't go above 60

I agree simple is better, though I was thinking of one badge directly on the grille to one side. I had a mk1 mini that had the over riders with corner bars (The car is still in the ex's garage). When putting all the bits back on following paint I left them off, look much better (plus they were letti...

Re: can't go above 60

Sorry It's been a long time. Thanks for your help and advice, despite burning oil on idle the little Morris made it almost perfectly through belgium and Germany to it's destination, My friends decided on using it for their wedding car, so it got all dolled up. (Credit to Autoglym wax it did 750 mile...

Re: can't go above 60

Am off to Germany, Postponed now until Tuesday, not the cars fault the cars all dressed up with no place to go. Got a full tin of 20/50 in the boot,(I hope I don't go through the whole lot!) I took out the old dizzy I had in the spares box in the boot, I've got a cap and rotor arm and coil (I though...

Re: Greasing prop shaft

No I didn't get one supplied with my car. But funnily enough my granddad gave me one and I left it in my parents garage thinking the trigger ones were more powerful and convenient. I've been greasing the suspension every few months even if it hasn't been driven much, only just thought to check on th...

Re: Sat Nav glove box

damn should have just put a phone holder in there. The USB gadget I bought was two USBs and two outlets so I can plug my phone into one and the GPS in the other, I'd prefer just one thing though maybe when I get a new phone, I have an Iphone 3GS and it's full to the brim and a bit sluggish now proba...

Re: can't go above 60

Oh with the oil pressure gauge wired up

idle cold 55lb/sqft
idle warm 25, (just above 20 with the clutch down, laboured idle)
Fast cruise (65-70mph) looks like about 70lb/sqft)
meduim cruise 40-50mph stays dead on 50lb/sqft
30 mph in 4th something like 40lb/sqft

does this all sound good?

Re: can't go above 60

OK, well I think the fuel pump is behaving itself in this milder weather, I'll get some MPG figures on my big road trip. Plugs are grey white I should richen the mixture. I've done alot on the car today (alot for me) refilled rear dampers (so much better, thanks BMC Ecosse) Sprayed grease on all sus...

Re: Sat Nav glove box

Some phones only work like that most of the 'smart phones' actually have a real GPS chip and use the triangulation of phone signal (and wifi) to fill in the gaps if the signal is lost. So yes they should be more robust than a stand alone sat-nav. Can you download the maps for Navfree or will it use ...

Re: Greasing prop shaft

Yeah I've tried rotating it around approaching from the left, from the right, below using a flexi hose and rigid hose, no joy. Manual says 3000 miles actual the same as suspension, but I read somewhere on here while trying find a cunning solution that it's recommended every 1000! I can imagine some ...

Greasing prop shaft

I'm having trouble getting my grease gun to engage on the prop shaft nipples anyone got any suggestions, just doesn't seem to adequate clearance. I also didn't know that you were suppposed to do them every 1000 miles! I thought the most important was the suspension parts to grease. (not that I've do...

Re: Removing Ammeter

I am putting it through the always on fuse. I thought it would be safer incase of a short wire. I remember all my previous cars brake lights working with ignition off. perhaps I remember wrong. Perhaps I should switch it back to normal after 50 years I'm sure someone would have said if they needed f...
