Ahh I see! It does seem better at higher revvs. I have a MG metro inlet and a LCB exhaust manifold with maniflow exhaust. The carb is standard HS4 but has different needle. I also seem to have a random flat spot which seems to occur only when it wants too but I had this before the new head as well. ...

I dont know how much has been taken off as it has sat in the shed for the last 25 years! It is down to the tab bit that sticks out though. ( if that makes sence!) It is on a 998 with flat top pistons. Is now running better since introduction of new HT lead but still dosent seem a great deal faster.

If you dont want the hastle of driving slowly for ages then hire out a dino for the day and run it in there. Expensive but quick.

Re: lada engine in a minor

Lada used their own engines and gearboxes in the Riva, in 1500 and 1300 form. I dont think that it would fit on a fiat box but it might. If you take an engine and box from a lada I would think it should fit fairly easially as it is designed to fit the fiat (ish). I have a lada engine at home burried...

If its a 89/90 engine then it will be unleaded as the A-series went lead free in 89.

Missfire

After 6 months I have finially got my morris running! However above around 2000rpm it starts missfiring when under load. Any ideas?
Also I have many tuning bits and tuned engines to fit a mini, what parts could I use on my minor?

Not charging!

The ignition light stays on all the time and the battery drains. I have replaced the dynamo with another one but that could be dead as I got it out of a scrap yard. The light does not get dimmer as engine speed increases, it is bright all the time.

Ok, thanks. I will try those tests. I do get a spark at the points, as I have tried flicking them open with a screwdriver. When I dissconnect the HT lead and put it near the block I don't get a spark when I crank the engine over.
