New coil fitted at weekend. Initial 'test' looks promising. Only had time to do about 5/6 miles but no trouble. Thanks all for the various suggestions. I suspect that if it is still conks out next time I'm out it could be the head gasket. But fingers crossed.

Re: Conks out after 2 miles
Thanks for thoughts. Coil ? If were coil would I still have a spark at each plug when it conks out....which I do. This is what has pushed me down fuel starvation route. Have double checked all connections - sound. Could replace cap and rotor arm. But - same question re coil. I have spark when it con...

Conks out after 2 miles
The is new 'old' post - see also 'sudden loss of power'. Problem is this : Starts ok from cold. Runs a bit 'lumpy' but ok....maybe misfiring a little but still clocks a decent speed on flat. Then after about 2 miles is starts to flounder. loses power and eventually stutters and conks out. Will not s...

Re: Sudden loss of power when engine warm
The latest... Have thoroughly cleaned carburetor and float chamber. Won't start at all now ! Convinced no fuel is reaching plugs. After several turns removing a plug would normally reveal a flooded plug. But it's dry as a bone. What can be wrong with carb ? What test can I do to isolate carb as culp...

Re: Sudden loss of power when engine warm
Thanks for various suggestions etc. Another frustrating day. Concentrated on fuel. But as far as I can tell nothing wrong with supply either from pump or carb. Float chamber 'normal' level when cap removed post 'problem'. It's very predictable. I've worked out that it goes about four miles before pr...

Re: Sudden loss of power when engine warm
Ok thanks - seems like fuel might be the culprit. Will investigate further - if it ever stops raining.

Sudden loss of power when engine warm
1963 Morris, 1098 engine. I've tried to explain the problem as fully as possible. Also to say what I've done thus far.... On turning on ignition petrol pump ticks away until full. Starts ok with choke. Runs ok and can steadily reduce amount of choke. Runs normally in all gears for about 10 - 15 minu...
