I didn't say he moved the dizzy. He certainly didn't undo any bolts down there, other than the one holding the LT lead down!
First thing he did when he spotted there was no spark was pop the dizzy cap off, and the problem was immediately obvious. Snapped LT lead. He remade it, and refitted it.

Re: Running awfully, suspect points...
Well Roy, until the LT lead snapped the car was performing admirably. Returning 31mpg at a steady 55mpg with a roofrack and a 550kg trailer.... I think its somewhat unlikely that an LT snapping would cause the valve gaps etc to change! More likley that he knocked the dizzy slightly and change...

Well, its improved. Not a lot, but now driveable. Still rough though.
Think the HT lead touching the block might not have helped

Running awfully, suspect points...
So I need to set the points gap I think. but no idea how to do it.... Can anyone suggest how to do it in idiot terms? And whilst I'm waiting for a feeler gauge (lost mine) is there something else I could use in place... She's running like a dog and I think its where the RAC bloke remade the LT lead ...

Re: Young owners at the National
I feel the need to point out that the ambulance was not actually for a member of the young owners register, it was a young lady who tagged onto the group and got herself exceptionally intoxicated. The actions taken by members of the register to get her sorted out were absolutely correct, finding tra...

Re: Minor Van Wanted - Advice Please
My car was sold to me by a one post wonder, and no problems with the sale at all.... There are various websites specialising in classified ads for classic cars, a quick google should reveal all on that front. obviously, keep your eyes peeled on the for sale section here too personally, for a van tha...

Re: Tips on increasing MPG
Just for the record, On the way too the national (heavily loaded car, and heavy trailer tent - wouldn't want to go any higher on a minor) cruising generally at 50ish apart from in the heavy traffic I got 31.9 mpg. Based on brim to brim and mileage off google maps. Way back (with a roof rack!) it wen...

The young owners register are a good bunch. I camped with them this year and it was good fun.

Re: A Traveller as a surprise 50th - after some help, please
Of the options you presented, normally option 3 is the best. £5,000 is a strong budget and you should be able to find a traveller in tip-top (albeit not nessecarily concourse) condition for that sum of cash. A very quick look on ebay reveals this, which is maybe a *little* overpriced imo, but gives ...
