Re: Bushes and stuff

Aye, there was a washer on mine. Put it back using it. Finally managed to sort it to a height I'm happy with yesterday. Got it with the nearside slightly lower again but I believe that's recommended anyway. It's the smoothest ride it's ever been since I bought the car and no juddering at all when br...

Re: Bushes and stuff

Hi, yeah I filled the dampers with the correct oil. I'll have another look at them tomorrow then.

Not sure on that other method of adjusting the suspension. Are the parts I'm looking to adjust anywhere on the exploded diagrams on the Moss website? I kinda use them as a reference.

Re: Bushes and stuff

Thanks. Will do. I just had it out for a test drive a minute ago. The driver's side is slightly lower than the other so I'll probably have to drop the passenger side a spline. It was fantastic going over the speed bumps around here. Previously hitting the bump stop thingys if I went over them faster...

Re: Bushes and stuff

Well it toook me a while to get a chance to look at this again but managed this afternoon. I've fiddled about with the torsion bars on each side and got it to a height of 26 and a half inches at the topmost part of the wheelarch on the front wings on each side. Is that too high or do you think that'...

Re: Bushes and stuff

Was thinking one spline would take it close to level but still leave the offside slightly higher to allow for lowering when I put my fat bum in the car

Would that be right?

Re: Bushes and stuff

Good 2" lower at the other side though. Might crank it up a spline. Seems too lop sided.

Re: Bushes and stuff

I'll do that thanks. Where exactly on the front wing are you taking the measurement? To the highest point on the wheel arch it's just slightly shy of 26". To the lowest point on the side of the front wing (drivers side furthest left point on wing) it's 10". Does that sound about right? I'l...

Re: Bushes and stuff

Hi David. Sorry Just saw your message there. I've been out working on it for the past 2 hours. Thanks anyway. Managed to get it at last. seemed to make sense once I had it off again. I guess I didn't realise that I'd accidentally lowered it when working on it earlier. Thanks for all the advice Roy a...

Re: Bushes and stuff

Thanks for that. I'll buy a couple of Nylocs then. I've put it back together today and, when dropping the jack, the car's going right the the ground i.e. so low I can't get the jack back out. Can anyone tell me where I've gone wrong? I had to remove the lower arm from the torsion bar to get the bush...

Re: Bushes and stuff

It's very slightly smaller than the original but there's plenty of thread to get a nut over it so should be ok. I'll just get a 3/8 bsf nyloc nut then? Take it that'll be ok.
Thanks.

Re: Bushes and stuff

Got another chance to look at the car at the weekend. In the end I had to give up on getting the tie rod off. The nut was mangled and the bits of split pin weren't budging. Rather than try and buy different tools to try with it I found a second hand tie rod on Ebay for £11 (which would probably be c...

Re: Bushes and stuff

Well I managed to do one side today in the blazing heat. I'm exhausted but happy with how it went. I decided to start the other side and jacked it up to discover that the split pin through the nut on the end of the tie rod had snapped at each end leaving about a milimeter sticking out. I tried to gr...

Re: Bushes and stuff

Managed to drain the dampers today with the help of my trusty bicycle pump (thanks for that tip :D ) and filled them with the oil that Roy recommended. I've sprayed around all the nuts and bolts involved in the front bushes with plusgas about three different times over the course of today and left t...

Re: Bushes and stuff

I'll get the Ebay one then. Saw it earlier when I was browsing too. Is it an easy enough thing to do? I take it the litre will be sufficient for them both?
