Bob, the guages were made in america, the adaptors for the pressure gauge fitted to the tee piece straight away, ran it up good pressure and no leaks, i will try the web site you sent, regards steve

thanks for that, the treads on the adaptor look deeper and more course, if you get my meaning, ive cleaned out the tapping in the head incase of any debry or rust ect, is stopping it going in, and tried gently by hand to insert the adaptor but it just wont bite, and do not want to damage the treads ...

hi, ive just got a matching pair of guages, (oil pressure and water temp) they are both mechanical, (capillary). now fitted the oil pressure guage via a tee piece, and all went well, ive got 50 psi on hot tick over, and about 70 psi when driving, ( at about 60 mph), dont have a tacho, so not sure of...

thanks BMC, it was the air bubbles and water sepping from the head joint that made me remove head to check, i will follow your advice on the new one, while i was in the garage getting dirty, i also removed the sump, ( leaking gasket at the rear) and the remains of oil in the sump had quite a lot of ...

not sure about it being jammed, i had rocked the car in gear several times, and also i was able to turn the starter pinion prior to removing, only cleaned the bendix etc with brake cleaner, ( it was realy thick with oil/greasey muck) and i did not apply any fresh oil. this had been an intermitant pr...

sorted!! stripped the motor off, cleaned the pinion ect with brake/clutch cleaner(very dirty) checked power supply down to starter, tested the starter in the vice, (spun great) refitted , and all ok!! apart from the dirt and muck, its a mystery.

thanks for the above comments, only wish i had not bothered doing a test now, but idle hands and a few hours off!! , but as it does not use oil, or water, plugs are nice and clean, + nice clean exaust, think i will leave alone and just monitor it for a while, thanks steve

hi, just done a compression test, engine hot, all plugs out, throttle fully open, i got readings of three at 125 and one at 130, engine pulls like a train, with plenty of torque, are these figures to low and should i be worrying? i do get a bit of mayenaze in the filler cap, but i only do very short...

filter is less than three months old, about 700 miles max, its now dirty and feels damp to the touch, when ever i remove the top pipe there is always a couple of drops of water in it.
