Re: Do you think a reproduction Morris Minor would work these days?
The least said on the "fake" the better. If, as we have, people asking me what my car is, or was right now, there must be rapidly approaching a time when people have no memory of, or therefore attachment to the name Minor. So if nothing is done soon, nothing will be done ever. My preferenc...

Re: Do you think a reproduction Morris Minor would work these days?
The answer possibly may be in the popularity of the small Fiats and of course the Nissan Figaros that have been imported from Japan. The problem as I see it is legislation. Cars are fitted with air bags and a mass of electronic safety systems that are pressed upon us by successive administrations, t...

Re: Drive It Day 2026
Looks like all had a good time, and the weather helped immensely. A defective headlamp prevented my Traveller from taking part, but I did take the Micra to Old Sodbury where there were 50-60 cars of various marque at the Cross Hands for their monthly meet. A load of Minors from Bristol Branch went ...

Re: Could be a tidy car for someone
Mathewsons staff openly admit they put a low start price on cars that look good to draw in more interest I have just noticed it sold for £2,900.00 which seems cheap to me, so on the surface it was a good buy after all, but watching the video I noted the ignition light stayed on when idling, I would ...

Re: Trip out today
Given the majority of young drivers are taking their tests in automatics I do wonder if we are the last generation to own classics? Perhaps the young owners club have their finger on that pulse. Interest is usually sparked when joe public is informed our cars have tax free status, low insurance prem...

Fair enough, but if the frames are good do keep them somewhere, one mans junk is another mans treasure.

Re: Seat frames
Oh I am sure they will fit, one way or another. Forgive me, but they would look ok in an MG TF of 2004 vintage, I just wondered how they would look in a Morris Minor of mid 20th century vintage. I think its my old fashioned taste, but it is of course your car and we all have different taste. For my ...

I would try a mixture of T Cut and elbow grease.

So,
at risk of repeating myself,
is it possible to do away with the facility of guests online?
If a guest wishes to genuinely get involved he would have to register, that would eliminate bots wouldn't it?
Or am I showing my ignorance?

Why they would pick on this site is a mystery to me.
But perhaps it is time to make 35000 visitors register.
If someone is genuine they will take the time, "bad actors" will go elsewhere.

Re: Why ash ?
Cost played a part, and still does. The harder woods including the Teak you mentioned take much longer to grow, hardwoods generally are rarer for that reason and more expensive. Most have to be legally certified before importation. Reasons of economy, rarity and of course the environmental impacts p...

Am I alone I wonder?
The site seems very slow, sometimes taking numerous attempts at logging in.

Re: 1973 again?
It made me think. I have a bus pass now and a good bus service if push comes to shove. I was informed the other day if I use the bus before 9.30 a.m. I am charged an extra 20p per journey This apparently is to dissuade old codgers from slowing down the workers dashing to their place of employ. Surel...

Re: Pothole nightmares
There is a company here in the UK that makes mobile machines that spray a special tar in to pot holes and fixes them using a hand held lance, hardening in minutes. They are called velocity patching and if your local authority dont know about them then they should. It takes minutes and the machines c...
