Re: Emma's 1967 Minor Saloon

Then, with the welding completed, a layer of body filler was needed to re-shape the area. Dad's plastering skills coming in handy here :) . Three of the 4 doors also had dents in them so these have also been attended to at the same time.[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1358964089_16064 [/f...

Re: Emma's 1967 Minor Saloon

Slow progress on my Morris but having got the underneath work done, the next step was repairs to all 4 doors which were rusty at the bottom. Repair sections for the bottom skins were purchased from Bull Motif Spares and these have now been welded in. Repair sections for the frames were fabricated by...

Re: Thesis

Challenging and innovative it is certainly not........ :o I don't think that most responses are exactly encouraging to a young Morris Minor enthusiast. This is somebody still at school don't forget and his proposals sound fairly challenging to me at least! And, if his school call it a thesis...

Re: RIDICULOUS INSURANCE PRICES???

Hi, I'm 22, passed my test when I was 17, and my insurance for my 55 Minor cost just £190. You just have to shop around. It will be more expensive obviously for yourself, as you have only just passed, and are only 17, but try LANCASTER INSURANCE. :D Thanks :) . I have shopped around and had less ex...

Re: RIDICULOUS INSURANCE PRICES???

Its presumably because you are in fact insuring two young drivers, both with the high risk. The £1923 total, split between the two of you is the £900 as quoted. Get a quote for just one of you, and see. I also presume this is unlimited milage, and parked on the road at night? And possibly in a high...

Re: RIDICULOUS INSURANCE PRICES???

The trouble is as a newly qualified 17 year old driver (congratulations) as far as insurance companies are concerned you have no "driving history". Consequently they are taking a greater risk insuring you - hence the larger premium. This together with another young driver of 20 on the pol...

Re: RIDICULOUS INSURANCE PRICES???

I didn't expect insurance to be "cheap" but I did hope that a Morris Minor would be less expensive to insure than the modern car I currently drive (which, so far it has not proved to be). Also, I hoped that the Footman James/MMOC young driver scheme would be cheaper than other insurance qu...

Re: RIDICULOUS INSURANCE PRICES???

Going by the recent discussions in this thread ( http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=32872 ) insurance for young Minor drivers via FJ is an average of £700 tpft and £900 fully comp which compared to the cost of insuring a Corsa etc is very reasonable, hence my comment. It may be that inc...

Re: RIDICULOUS INSURANCE PRICES???

Insurance for young drivers is never going to be cheap but at least those driving Minors can get reasonably priced insurance via the club scheme :D Really Louise? As a newly qualified 17 year old driver I got a (completely unaffordable) quote from the Footman James young driver MMOC scheme last wee...

Re: Emma's 1967 Minor Saloon

The Morris has got through 10 or 12 MOTs since dad was first warned about rust in the centre crossmember. The regular waxoyling and a couple of welded repairs have sufficed up to now but this time a proper lasting job is required so replacement of the whole crossmember is the only sensible solution....
