Re: Morris won't start

Hello there, I am also experiencing the same 'juddering' of the engine which gets so bad you have to pull over. I thought perhaps moisture was getting into the distributor so had been spraying some WD40 in which SEEMED to help clear the problem but perhaps this was coincidence? Called (crept) into m...

Re: Starter Motor Maintenance

Jack the engine UP slightly!! Just take it's weight really........ Ok, I think I understand, I was working in a pit yesterday, so I couldn't have done that there. I will investigate this possibility next weekend. Is the servo hard up against the inner wing? If not I'd just lever it over a bit to ge...

Re: Starter Motor Maintenance

That's what I was hoping. Two of us tried all the different ways for this for over an hour. When we pulled it straight forward because there is not any movement left or right it just hits the top of the oil filter assembly. It's close, but I really can't see how it'd go. I don't think we were missin...

Re: Starter Motor Maintenance

It's in such a ridiculous place, right in way of everything.
I'm just not too sure about messing around with brakes just yet. Only done a few basic jobs so far.

Is removing the whole distributor assembly more hassle than its worth? And would I even be able to get the starter out from above?

Re: Starter Motor Maintenance

Right, had a go at this this afternoon. Really didn't go too well. Had access to a pit so planned to take it out from underneath. Expecting it to be quite straightforward. Bolts came out dead easy, but because of the position of the brake servo there is no possibility for movement either left of rig...

Re: Starter Motor Maintenance

Hello there, I need to get the starter motor out for some essential maintenance but think the brakes servo might be in the way? Any ideas of the best way of going about this? Wondered about taking the oil filter out to get some extra space and taking it out the bottom of the car? Have uploaded a pho...

Re: Wiring an Alternator??

fitted the alternator, and no longer have the ign light coming on, and voltage on battery increases as rev engine, so pretty sure it's working ok. But the wipers aren't working at all now. Haven't had a chance to look at it in daylight, so will investigate properly tomorrow, the wipers were definite...

Re: Wiring an Alternator??

Just read your reply bmcecosse.
I Guess that the BM loom runs two leads from the large spades connecting both at the pos side of the solenoid. I'll do as you suggest with 2x 35 amp leads. thanks

Re: Wiring an Alternator??

just looking at the photos of SVMinors wiring loom from BM, there is something I am a little unclear on. That has two wires going to the positive side of the solenoid one is the main supply (thick brown wire) to alternator. Where does that other thin brown wire connect to? The other thin brown wire ...

Re: Wiring an Alternator??

About to fit an alternator kit from BM. Unfortunately it's been shipped without the wiring loom, and they won't have stock of it for a couple of weeks. But I need to get it hooked up in the mean time. I understand the alternator wiring diagrams, it's just the actual connections on the back of the al...

Re: Switching Polarity pitfalls?

Hi All successfully switched my 1000 over to negative earth this afternoon. Followed the steps in the technical tips on this site and all seems good, however... when swapping the wires on the coil it says: if in doubt you should end up with the black and white wire connected to the terminal marked -...
