On Saturday I did 23 miles to Carrs Garage of Tavistock the Pick ups first real run out. All went well I did stop a time or two to check how hot the engine was running seemed good. Hot to touch is fine then - I don't think there is anything wrong - but more flushing won't do any harm.

Flushed the rad and block this morning then went for a 25 min run out. All working fine radiator hot at the top and now warm at the bottom.

Rad hot at top and cold below is correct! It's cooling the water..... Is it boiling up ? Most likely is blocked water passages in the rad and block. Keep flushing...... perhaps try some 'Rad Flush' - or some have used drain cleaner with success - but don't leave it in there with (or without!) engin...

I hate to say it but you will find it allot easier to fit the engine with the front panel / bonnet removed, also less risk / worry of damaging them when fitting it. As far as I know they are all the same, with vertical holes, the two at the tailgate end are double pronged, like the old fashion cloth line tie offs. Have pictures if you need and measurements for positions. I have the double pronged and all the original holes are there, the thing is all the holes...

The sides to my pick up are the originals but unfortunately didn't come with the rope hooks. I bought a set from ESM only to find they fit using two holes and are fitted vertical. The holes I have are horizontal. I have bought a set of hooks for a series 1 land rover that have the correct size holes...
