Re: engine on trolley no spark at plugs

Thanks for the response.
It’s definitely not the coil as I tested that on the van and it started perfectly.
What do you mean by not having a good spark at the points?

engine on trolley no spark at plugs

Hello
I have a 1098 on a trolley after reconditioning it. It did start well and ran for a bit. Now I have a good spark at the points and not at the plugs. I have swapped dizzy and leads and rotor arm from van that works fine and still the same problem. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Many Thanks

Re: ignition light and regulator

Thanks for the post. I have a dynamo and multi meter. I have never heard the clicking before and something is definitely wrong because the ignition light flashes when the clicking occurs.

ignition light and regulator

Hello all. The ignition light starts to slightly flash when I pick up the revs and then goes off again. This flashing is accompanied by a tapping noise coming from the regulator box. Never had this problem before and it is unsettling me as I suspect it will cause greater problems in the long term. A...

Re: oil light

Thank you - oil pressure at 50 mph is 60 and has been since I installed the pressure gauge after your previous advice to do so - thanks for that. I guess I have taken a risk continuing to drive. Oil 20/50. I've got a screw on filter. so I'll be sorting the switch. Many thanks for your replies.

oil light

Hello: oil light was coming on at low revs. I replaced oil filter and oil and now it is coming on all the time. Oil pressure good and engine sounds sweet. Any pointers will be greatly appreciated. Cheers G

Re: finding an old minor

Thanks. trouble is I enter my reg in there and it doesn't come up with anything - and they still send me a tax disc every year when I apply for one.

suspension

waiting for the AA as my bottom trunion has just popped off the swivel pin - luckily in a car park and not on a road doing 60. On the Bullmotiff site they sell one specifically for a van - a tad more expensive. Does the van warrant a different one to the saloons etc? Other parts sites don't seem to ...

finding an old minor

Hi My father in law is hankering over an old minor he owned in the 60's and is wondering if it still around. How would I find out for him?

Re: awful clatter

The number on the side - starting with VA (I think) corresponded with the identification on a website talking about midget gearboxes. I just got a gearbox fron ebay to play around with and the id begins with MA - am I anywhere near right?

Re: awful clatter and now jumping oy of fourth

Nearly a year on since I fixed it and not lost a drop of oil since. But now its jumping out of 4th when decelerating. Time to investigate the gear box. I have just got one off ebay to play with - a minor one as mine seems to be from a miget.

Re: oil pressure light

Thanks for your help. I don't understand the two wires either - must have connected something else at some point. I've updated the profile and truied to add picture of van without success. How would you go about converting a minor to steam - you must have been tempted - a worlds first perhaps.

Re: oil pressure light

Hello Bmcecosse. Don't be cheeky about the rain. We are supplied by Cambride water who have not issued a hose pipe ban so I shall water the veg at will. The oil light goes off when I pull off the wire. The other 2 wires (green with the yellow stripe) are connected to the one one the oil pressure swi...

Re: oil pressure light

Thanks Bmcecosse. Now I'm confused. I've always assumed it was the oil pressure warning light. Its green, on the bottom left of the speedo on a '64 van. Bottom right is the red ignition with the high beam at the top middle. The switch is on the back bottom left of the engine with a single Green Yell...

Morning.
How come every one is saying 44lbs/ft torques when the manual says 40lbs/ft.
