Replacement floor

Replacing rear floor. The new panel sits a little proud on the lip shown. The lip is double thickness. Is it best to remove the lip and plug weld the upstand to the seat support. or is it best to leave the lip and try to fashion it to close the gap.
Any advice most welome😁
