Chrome for Windscreen

I have a 1960 Pickup and I am wondering if I use the chrome weatherstripping piece on the windscreen. Right now there is a black string of weatherstripping in the space where the chrome insert would go. Do I pull out the black strip and replace it with the chrome piece? Of course I know I'll need on...
