Re: Where are the earth points in the rear of an LCV?

Thanks to all, and the man who PM'd me. I've ended up with the two rear earths on the inside of the rear cross member, the new loom had one either side, so two it has. At the front currently for testing purposes I've tucked an extended wire under the two front uppermost front panel bolts, but still ...

Re: Where are the earth points in the rear of an LCV?

Actually I could do with some decent pictures of the location and type of earth for the front lights as well. Pick up is a 1970 if it matters.

Where are the earth points in the rear of an LCV?

I need to know where the tailight looms ground in the back of a pick up or van? Is it on the chassis rail somewhere, or the bodywork, maybe the gusset at the rear body mount, or?? I'm trying to get this resto accurate, so whilst I know I can put them just about anywhere, I'd like to know where the f...

You can set ebay to email you whenever the other member lists something for sale, if and when they list something for sale, send them a message.

Are you saying that you can't fit the engine and box as one unit without removing the support towers?
Why is that? Should be at the same point early next week.

Re: A few pick up questions.

Can anyone help with any info regarding the correct routing of the rear wiring loom on an LCV?
The 'tags' on the chassis become non existent after the tubular crossmember that supports the front of the leaf springs. Am I some tags missing?

Re: New pickup

Nice looking pick up, spitting image of the one I'm restoring. The owner of my project has bought a brand new tilt, not cheap but fantastic quality. It does mean he'll soon have his original one for sale. http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6225/6359415923_8516853be8_z.jpg PM me if interested. Cheers Andy.

Re: Poor Quality Parts - Please report your experience

I'm putting together a complete nut and bolt resto on a pick up at the moment, and I've found a bunch of things not right. I fail to see that a cloak and dagger secret crusade off forum will make any difference. I'd like to know why this forum is so against naming names, after all if suppliers play ...

Re: A few pick up questions.

So, today was another good day, after sorting out a few little jobs, we fitted the rear buck, followed by the cab back. Sounds simple when said like that, but in reality is a pain, messing around with seals, and getting all the bolts lined up, still, worth it in the end. Loosely hung the other front...

I don't know, should they? It's the kind of info I've found very difficult to unearth.

Re: A few pick up questions.

So, a few days down the line and things are progressing well, chassis is finished all bar a couple of small details, brakes, steering, suspension, the lot all in, split pins and lock tabs all sorted, just a visit from the grease gun, strap the steering rack gaitors and fill the diff up with oil, ble...

Re: Repro bulb holder won't take bulbs?

It's an original, as removed from the tails of the old loom I left attached to the speedo on stripdown. On further investigation it seems that the ridges inside the repro bulbholders are just crudely done and as such not up to the job. Looks like I shall be splicing in the old bulbholders onto the n...

Repro bulb holder won't take bulbs?

Is there a problem with the repro bulbholders on wiring looms not taking bulbs for the speedo? I seem to be having some issues, is it me or are they known to be rubbish. If so what's the solution?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Re: A few pick up questions.

OK so the update you've all been waiting for; (Or not as the case may be.) After blasting there were of course a few minor (pun not intended) issues that needed attention, This was completed and the shell was then handed over to the paintshop, however various day to day jobs have taken priority and ...

Re: Lower trunnion thrust, or rather lack of?

Thank you gentlemen, problem solved. Trunnion pin is about 2mm under length, so the thrust washers are up against the swivel housing, not the pin faces. Back to the supplier then.......
