Re: Would an 8 leaf pick up/van spring fit a traveller

after many questions and more research than i really have time for , yes a van spring can be fitted with modified bushes , but the ride is unrelentingly hard , some question as to whether it would nullify your insurance by fitting a part that wasn't designed to be fitted , so thats that little idea ...

Re: Minor security whats the best visible deterrent

With a postal Minor, it's very difficult to gain entry, especially upon removal of the interior handles. I agree, no amount of electrical safety devices will stop the vehicle being moved/removed. Need to discuss ways to stop the vehicle moving. wheel clamps score against the run of play to make it ...

Re: Minor security whats the best visible deterrent

i really have to dissagree with you on the immobiliser issue , if they were useless the insurance companies wouldn't offer better rates if you car is fitted with one , high value sports cars have them fitted as well as tracking devices. As i said they slow down the opportunist , if they see a car wi...

Re: Minor security whats the best visible deterrent

fortunately i store mine in a specialised secure compound so have no worries for overnight parking, the more desirable cars next to mine are more likely to get nabbed  i was thinking of the wheel clamp as its easier to stow , but its less visible at ground level most folks tend to see whats at...

Re: Minor security whats the best visible deterrent

without giving the game away you'd have to run oa lot more separate wires ,but by then the alarm will have kicked in ,the rottweiller will have eaten its way through the front door and just tucked into your leg as an entree, all joking apart nothing will prevent a serious attempt . so it looks like ...

Re: Would an 8 leaf pick up/van spring fit a traveller

i have a couple in my evilbay watching but they're not up for a week , there is a pair of traveller springs but one looks o.k with a nice tight curve and tightly compressed leaves and on the other the leaves are apart which probably means its gone soft ,as i said in one of my other meanderings , wit...

Would an 8 leaf pick up/van spring fit a traveller

as a follow on from my last post ,and with the blossoming opinion on our messageboards and within spring suppliers opinions ( i have been told today by several spring manufacturers that they are a waste of money )that all of the springs supplied by online morris parts suppliers are sourced from the ...

o.k so you have the engine cranking over , but it still won't start ,and it wont , well it might but not for more than a few seconds , what do you check next and by now you have possibly woken the family rottweiller cranking the engine over , and its coughing and dying , the clock is ticking and you...

Re: Minor security whats the best visible deterrent

:D they'll have fun trying to start mine with a starting handle , i used to have a series of hidden cutout switches on a dutton phaeton i built in the early 1980's , it took a fair bit of thinking out but worked a treat, not much fun in the pouring rain trying to set em though , i'm impressed with m...

Re: Minor security whats the best visible deterrent

Not so , the control box is hidden in such a position that you have to rip certain parts of the car apart to find it i reckon 20-45 minutes at best even if you know where it is , and the wiring very very well concealed so as not to even look as though it has anything retro fitted at all , just looks...

Minor security whats the best visible deterrent

Hi ,i have read with some alarm the stolen vehicles section and whilst it is easy to get paranoid i was wondering what you all recommend as a deterrent , I have already fitted a 'TOAD' immobiliser which cuts the circuit at several vital points , has an arming plug that supposedly cannot be duplicate...

Re: Rear Springs for traveller needed Which supplier Bull or ESM

yeah its the top nearside leaf on the front end just before the strap that holds them all together , pig ! the rest of the spring is pretty rusted up i think it would be so much trouble to split the spring and add a s/h or new single leaf and rebuild , probably end up costing more in the long run , ...
