Re: She won't turn over!!

Thanks for that.

Matches what I did :-)

It looks in pretty good order, but a bit dirty, so I used some degreaser and gave it a good clean. Then reassembled with NO lubricant at all. I hadn't heard of the graphite thing before, but like you can't see it lasting.

Cheers

Re: She won't turn over!!

Sorry to be slow on the feedback. It was a week before the opportunity arose to take a look.... Under your advise I put her in second and gently rocked her, after around 30 seconds there was an audible ping and the engine freed up. I guess it must be the starter so I will have that off and give it a...

Re: She won't turn over!!

Thanks for the input gents. As it is the wife's birthday today I will have to wait a day of so to try your suggestions. I'll report back later in the weekend.

She won't turn over!!

I went to start my Minor this morning and nothing! The battery is fine, and she was running fine when I cam home in her last night, but this morning when I turn the key all lights are up and bright, and pulling the starter does nothing! If I put the starter handle on the front it is jammed solid and...

Re: April Fool Gremlin. Advice please.

This is very similar to what mine did a couple of weeks back. Mine turned out to be the condenser.

Re: Modern "Lucas" condensers

That looks like an excellent site. I may well give them a try for some a couple of spares.

Modern "Lucas" condensers

HI All Am having great fun at the moment with my 1958 4 door saloon. I replaced the condenser at the weekend, while giving the car a service, only because there was a new one in the kit I brought. A couple of days later the car started coughing and got progressively worse. I tried a few things ........

Re: SU Throttle Return Spring bracket

That's interesting, as after I cleaned the dashpot and piston the over revving that I am describing as throttle sticking has seemed to stop, at least for a couple of days. Although I was suspicious of the throttle cable and have replaced that with a new one today :-) Again, thanks for the input, I'm...

Re: SU Throttle Return Spring bracket

It's nothing special - a bent bit of metal would do the job! Absolutely. I really just wanted to see where it attached and what it looked like so that I can do something similar. This investigation all came about when the throttle started sticking open a couple of days ago so I was looking into eve...

SU Throttle Return Spring bracket

Hi All I have recently taken ownership of a lovely 1958 1000 4 door, Sage Green, saloon. The car has been in my family for many years and was fully restored in 1989, since which she has done very little work. When my Mum threatened to Ebay her I stepped in and am now using her regularly and loving i...
