Re: Over Heating
Thank you all for your comments. The gauge is accurate with an electrical connection from the top of the block. The gauge is used to give a warning but yes the rad does boil over. topped up to close to the top as suggested, the cap is a 4lb one and working. Previously we had a 7lb one but this has n...

Over Heating
Hello I have a 1098 engine 1966. the car seems to get very hot and overheat. All the hoses are good - no leaks. The heater was refurbished, works well no leaks. The thermostat at 82 is new and tested ok. The rad has been taken off and flushed. When warm appears warm all over. I have fitted a tempera...

Re: Jet assembly & carb adjustment
Hello Stehen,
Thank you. I have studied the video. I can see the brass nut goes into the dash pot but the black plastic piece on the other end? How does that fit? There does not appear to be a fitting? Thanks....

Re: front damper replacement
Hello Phil. Thank you for your help. I have read the details, i am not sure whether I have the tools? Would they be basic spanners to swap the unit or snap-on top quality stuff? Also i might need large imperial sizes? Thanks, Ann

How do you get the bolt back on the filter housing? The spring seems to make it so tight to get the thread started? Thanks Ann

Re: Convertible - Front Wooden Header Rail colour?
hello Pete,
I replaced my hood last year. The hood was ok in a grey vinyl which I liked. I did replace the metal frame as the old one was twisted, rusty & old! My hood front colour frame is black which obviously I was happy with so left that part in place. Hope this helps!

Re: Boot Rubbers
Hello thanks again. The boot lid I have is a good refurbished one so not rusty at present, painted in side and out. Looking forward does the rubber on the car prevent moisture and rust better than the rubber stuck under the lid? The rubber I had before was on the car but I lost it when the new one w...

Re: Electronic Ignition
Hello All. Thank you again for all your helpful replies. I do agree keep original electronics and it should keep going! Mine seems to be fine but like others I have had "new" dodgy condensers before which is just a pain by the road as the car just does not go evenly! Thought with electroni...

Boot Rubbers
Hello, I have a 66 Minor convertible so late model. The car had a rubber fixed to the car frame over the welds which worked fine with the old boot lid. At the time I had a fibreglass lid. When the boot lid was changed for metal one the rubber was removed and a new rubber stuck to the underside of th...

Electronic Ignition
Hello All, What is the consensus with regard to electronic ignition? I have an original 66 convertible and wanted to keep it that way. The dealer who put together a new engine etc suggested keeping the normal distributor & points. Does a car run better with electronic ignition, economy etc or is...

Re: Minor Convertible Roof Frame 1966 &Tyres
Hello again!
Thank you for taking the trouble to copy the manual and look it up for me.
Yes, you are right, they have been reversed!
When the weather is fine I will have another look. As you say does not seem to make much difference, if it folds down smoothly.

Re: Minor Convertible Roof Frame 1966 &Tyres
Thank you for the pictures - much appreciated. It would appear ours maybe wrong as the strut to the rear window is inside on our car and on yours on the outside? It appears to work ok but it would be really interesting to know what the order is on either cars if you know of other convertible owners?...

hello Mobylette,
Thank you very much for the photos of the hood gear, very useful.
Would you be able to send a close up of the actual bracket and washers/bolt to give me the correct components?
Thanking you,
Ann Steel

Re: Minor Convertible Roof Frame 1966 &Tyres
Hello and thank you for the "Lurker award! I appreciate your comments. yes our tyres are fitted correctly with true wheels and correct valve and seem to work very well. As the rear are the new 155 size the plan is to change the front ones from 145 to 155 as well which I think gives a much bette...
