Stuck engine - starter pinion troubles!

Not so much a question, but a bit of info for others. Went to our '53 4-door this morning to take some friends that had been staying to the station, but it wouldn't start! The engine wouldn't turn over at all and I nearly bent the starting handle trying to get it to turn over. I took out the plugs t...

Minor specialist recommendation?

A difficult question I know, but I'm looking for a Minor specialist or similar to do some odd little jobs on our 1953 S2 (couple of bits of welding, windscreen rubber etc) in the East Midlands area. We are just south of Nottingham. Does anyone have any recommendations of who to use and perhaps to av...

Re: Weird fuel gauge issue

Further to the initial posting - I decided to fit a new sender unit. Hey presto! One fuel gauge that works perfectly! :D :D

Re: Weird fuel gauge issue

Not recently! I remember seeing somethng similar in a roller once, which if I remember correctly was in use on a cricket pitch, like a lot ended up. I wouldn't want to be disparaging, but car engines are for cars in my view! We go for things a little larger, more robust etc. i have John Deere, Cater...

Re: Weird fuel gauge issue

Thanks Gents for the information. I might dig a little deeper into the sender to see if anything is amiss there before I resort to a dipping stick. I'm an old tractor bod really and only just getting into Minors, so I'm fully conversant with dipping sticks which are a standard tool for te pre war tr...

Weird fuel gauge issue

I've been scouring the boards for something that might point me in the right direction with the fuel gauge issue I have - but no luck, so maybe someone can suggest an answer? The fuel gauge on our 1953 Series 2 (1098 engine conversion) sits permanently on empty. It does flick when you turn on the ig...

Re: Series II (?) seat recovering

Great stuff - thanks for this. Pretty much confirms whatI thought.

Again, ours has had a 1098 engine fitted, so the major item of difference with the MM has been changed again anyway! Only had it a week but already quite fond of it!

Thanks all!

Re: Series II (?) seat recovering

Thanks for this - put my mind at rest! :D

Think I'll have a go at the seats as it looks easy enough to do!

Thanks again!

Series II (?) seat recovering

We've just purchased a 1953 car fitted with spurious front seats, but with what we believe to be the original seats as well. I,d quite like to have a go recovering these old seats myself, but I want to be sure they really are correct before I order some new covers. Now, everywhere I look (Haynes Res...
