All sorted now. The fan belt was fine. As I said I was getting a charge when I took one of the leads off the dynamo & tested between the lug on the dynamo & the wire. Now I've put the wire back on the light goes out, so I guess the problem was dirt or slight corrosion in that connection whic...

Thanks for the help. Speedo now been taken out & put back in, just got to find a supplier for the bulb as neither of my local stockists have them
