Re: Straight cut gearbox

Ah I see.. It does have the remains of a gold seal sticker on it too... Thanks for all the information anyway. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to gearboxes!

Re: Straight cut gearbox

I have one last question! After putting the box on the bench to poke about I spotted this metal tag. Not seen one before. It's probably nothing but any Ideas?[frame]Image[/frame]

Re: Straight cut gearbox

Thanks for the info guys! Worth much more than the price I paid then! I've got a 3.9 diff and bored out 1275 to go in too... So might have some fun with it and if the noise gets on my nerves sell it on.

Re: Straight cut gearbox

Are they worth more then? I hadn't heard of them until I pulled the side cover off and thought it looked a bit different!!

Straight cut gearbox

Hi everyone!

I've just acquired a 1275 gearbox. After taking a look inside I found out it has straight cut gears. I'm aware they're pretty noisy... What does everyone think I should do? Does anyone else have one in their minor?

Re: Tyre wear

Pete

Did you get it sorted?
i'm having the exact same issue and i think i'm running the same tyres as you, 155 continentals. Checked my tracking and it was perfect so just need to sort the camber to hopefully sort it!

Re: Chassis leg replacement

Plenty of energy, just not as much time as i'd like! The value doesn't matter to me. It's not something i plan on selling anytime soon so might aswell do it the best as i can. Atleast i know there's no hidden bodges!

Does the 1098 backplate need much modifying to make it fit?

Re: Chassis leg replacement

Cheers. Very happy considering it was my first restoration. Really wish i took more pictures as i was doing everything now. It's too late to give up on the MGB! i've already done one side. It's very rusty... (as you can probably see!)[frame]Image[/frame]

Re: Chassis leg replacement

Ended up replacing both chassis legs, inner and outer sills, spring hangers, boot floor and door skins. Then had a bare metal respray and then rebuilt the engine. So done quite a bit! just got to sort out the chrome now![frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1378838068_14424 [/frame][frame] http...
