Re: Dead electrical starting

Found out it was a dead high torque starter in the end. Have refitted the orginal until and it’s up and running. Although I think the bendix spring will need to be replaced sometime soon. Have noticed that I am missing a few bolts from the cover on the back of the starter motors where the gear conec...

Re: Dead electrical starting

Okay thanks for the replies. The reason for the high torque motor is a blue printed race spec 1360 /1380 abs the old started broke its gear so thought an upgrade would not hurt. I have changed the pull starter for a new unit. It was connected. And the rod was pushing in and out. But the new starter ...

Dead electrical starting

So I had a dead battery which I foolishly tried to start my 61 two door saloon with. It’s running a 1360 with a high torque starter. The car is negative earth. I tried to start the car and it sluggishly turned over almost caught and then died with nothing on the pull starter. Charged the battery and...

Re: Bearing and hub issues

Hi Phil.

It’s a minor kit. It’s all back in one piece on the car. I will try to get some photos In the next day or so.

Any info on the hub tightening procedure or is that dependent on the kit type?

Bearing and hub issues

Hello, So I’m having lots of problems with hubs and bearings. I had play in the passenger side front wheel - it has a Charles wears marina disk brake kit on it (fitted by them) so ordered a set of bearings from esm, pulled the hub and drifted out the bearings, put it all back together it seemed okay...

Late type heater issues with wiring

Hi guys I am having a nightmare with my 61’ 2 door currently. So any help would be hugely appreciated..... So I’ve made a fair few additions to the car, but have not cut into or changed the original loom everything has been made in separate sub looms - so before I start I don’t think this is the iss...

Re: Help fitting BRM (rover 200) seats.

Okay well I have finished the seat mounts - they work really well. I used flat bar to extend the runners to connect to the newton commercial seat sub frames I had. I have attached some pictures. I ground off all the metal work on the runners so that they where flat mount and universal. using existin...

Re: Help fitting BRM (rover 200) seats.

okay so I have cut off all of the rover fabricated mounts from the runners. leaving flat runners with mounting holes. My next plan is to make extension mounts from flat steel bar with mounting hole for the runners of the seat, and then inner mounting holes for the newton seat mounts - the newton sea...

Re: Help fitting BRM (rover 200) seats.

So I have decided to take this route, although it is taking sometime..... I have ground off the metal fixings that are welded to the runners of the BRM seats so I have the flat runners (they are part of the seat frame) so I can mount them to the Newton bases I already have. This has been a lot of gr...

Re: Help fitting BRM (rover 200) seats.

I am thinking if there is a way to just remove the whole runner assembly and use the newton frames, I have just realised that I have the under seat subwoofer under the passenger seat so mounting the seat that low would be an issue. Does anyone have any ideas?

Re: Help fitting BRM (rover 200) seats.

Thanks. That's definitely given me a good starting point. How did you deal with the inner rear bracket that bolts through the side?

Help fitting BRM (rover 200) seats.

Hey guys. I have to replace my tatty and ripped up newton vinyl seats as the covers and webbing have died. Also never been too happy with how all the plastic sections of these have constantly fallen off and become lost and damaged. I have the newton adaptors of the seats. I just picked up some leath...

Midget 1275 woes

Hi all, I pulled the head on the midget engine in my morris today thinking as three cylinders where showing bad compression that I had bad valves in the head, only to find two sets of parraell score marks on the front of cylinder 1 and the back of cylinder 4. 2 or 3 mm deep! I have called around and...

Re: Engine mounting issues.

Hi Guys, I am kind of stuck with the broken stud until the new year. Is there a way to remove this without removing the head? Im pretty sure its flush to the block. Was distracted by a overly helpful neighbour whilst tightening and managed to sheer it. was very annoyed but only have myself to blame....

Re: Engine mounting issues.

I looked into ceramic coating it was very expensive. So I will see about relocating the pump. It is chattering away at 19 to the dozen, and the exhaust manifold is over heating, which is too retarded timing I'm guessing. I did fit the hif44 today but it ran awfully over revved, hunted and would have...

Re: Engine mounting issues.

Okay, so I made the 200 mile round trip. Only issues where that the top of my K&N air filter decided it wanted to go on a permanent holiday somewhere near Southampton, so after a patch of gaffer tape, some string and elastic bands, the filter which luckily stayed with me was attached, awful runn...

Re: Engine mounting issues.

I thought that it could possibly an air leak, I will check the throttle cable. instead of the normal two to three pulls on the choke its taking four to start. Definately has oil in the dash pot. Was planing on swapping the hif38 that I have been using for a rebuilt hif44 as I have a feeling that the...
