Re: 1969 Minor on eBay - what do you think?

I have been thinking about this carefully. I knew that buying a moggy that hadn't been fully restored would lead to probably spending lots on the chassis. I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the bodywork; as I had bought him on ebay without looking at him I was prepared for the worst. I a...

Re: Members in Devon

Ah yes, I know Morchard Bishop. I know what you mean about teenagers growing up here, having brought three up in North Devon. I have just met another young man up here in my neck of the woods but he is off to Uni and selling his Moggy (see my thread on 1969 Minor on ebay). I have never seen him in i...

Number Plate

I looked at a car the other day that has had new number plates put on (yellow at the back etc)

Is it possible (and legal) to put the old style number plates back on a car? Are they even obtainable these days?

I will have to go and look at my heater pipe!

I am not completely familiar with all the bits and pieces in the engine bay yet. Working on it though, I will have to have a look. Thank you for pointing it out.

I am surprised no one else has noticed

Re: 1969 Minor on eBay - what do you think?

I did wonder why they asked me if I had access to another car. Louise's words have made me think and I am now not sure what to do. :-? :-? I really don't want to get a modern car, I haven't seen one I am happy to drive and I have access to my son's car (only if I'm desperate and while he is at home!).

Re: 1969 Minor on eBay - what do you think?

Thank you Louise, That is certanly good advice. I was originally going to get a Minor from a Centre but when I realised the money involved was more than I wanted to pay. I decided to go for a car that was roadworthy already and try and do as much of the work as I could. I realised that any welding m...

Hi David, You are probably right :D :P :D :P :D :P Thank you Louise for your thoughts (I will think carefully about this!!) and for moving the thread. Much more sensible place for it!!! George is on the road and has MOT. I am concerned with the chassis; the rear of it is very corroded where it attac...

1969 Minor on eBay - what do you think?

Hi there Websiters, I have been looking at a car on eBay and am interested to hear what you all think of it. I know it is difficult to judge something if you don't actually see it in the "flesh". I have been to see the car and it has been given a few modern "improvements" which I...

Copying Links

HI everyone,

I have been looking at a car to buy on eBay and I wanted to put a link to it to see what anyone thought of it but I don't know how to do that.

I tried copying the address from the address bar but it didn't copy as a link.

Help!!

Re: National Rally

I'm sorry but 1,500 for a working minor?! Really??!! As chris pointed out 30miles a week... So to a show and back at a weekend? I can see your point about if I don't use a car for work, it is not a working Minor. In theory, I will probably use him more than a modern car. It will be interesting to s...

Ahhh - well the dip switch is working ok. Check the wiring towards the front of the car - the blue/white wire is the one you are interested in... Thank you bmc, I will print out Louise's wiring diagram to help me. I need to have a good study of it to familiarise myself with all the wiring. Lots to ...

Cleaning the Engine Bay

This may seem a really stupid question but what do I clean the engine bay with? As a complete novice concerning the workings of the engine  (I am learning as quickly as I can. I know what the carburetor is for now!!  ), can I clean it with just soap and water or something like Flash...
