Re: border collie pups for sale blue merles

I used to have a Blue Merle who was congenitally deaf. We taught her sign language and she would come back to us by various waves and gestures as we wandered around meadows. Would run for miles and never wear out. Now we have a border collie called Cuenca after daughter's trip to Ecuador. I love col...

Re: Favourite Beers

"Old Peculiar, pulled from the wood, in Yorkshire served at room temperature. I am surprised OP has not been mentioned as it must surely be the top ale of all time". I mentioned OP right near the begining of the thread. Sadly I can only get it from tesco in bottle form now. Still good, but...

Re: Submarine gearbox

Is there a nuclear reactor small enough to fit into the Minor engine bay? I'm sure someone will now be busy working on this. Dunno what my local tip would say if I took my nuclear waste for dumping rather than the usual litres of old oil...

Ah yes, I can see how the V8 would struggle to manage the MM gearbox and drivetrain - they did tend to over engineer them...

Re: another car for the tax-free stable

And for period authenticity maybe it can carry its gas in a big bag on the roof. Would that matter now it no longer needs an MOT? Perhaps not but there's bound to be some other laws I'd contravene connected to the storage of combustibles and controlled/uncontrolled explosives! Mind you, every mornin...

Re: another car for the tax-free stable

Haha, LPG! My cousin's business is converting motors to LPG... Only prob is the gas tank would fill the rather limited boot space, so where would we put the weekly shop? I'll keep an eye on fuel use: It will be used mainly for trips into/around town and around the local country roads, so I'm hoping ...

Re: another car for the tax-free stable

Not really - the car is high spec and I got it for nearly £2000 under its rrp, and these cars hold their price very well as have such good mpg and low tax - two qualities very sought after these days! It does as many miles to the gallon as most diesels, and petrol per litre costs less than diesel, s...

another car for the tax-free stable

Having bowed to pressure, at the weekend I went out and bought my wife a new car for her commute back and forth to work; a Citroen C1 vtr plus on a 2012 reg. Amazingly, I didn't know this but these cars have zero tax on them due to their low emissions and average 66mpg (which was the whole reason I ...

Re: Favourite Beers

And even more on Southwold: On the harbour is the local campsite, so in summer you have beer, fish 'n' chips, sand and sea, crabbing and tea and cake all within 5 minutes walk if you pitch your tent. I feel a Minor camping convention coming on for real ale and moggie owners - CAMRAMM (CAMPAIGN FOR R...

Re: Favourite Beers

Mr Audio, For absolute Utopia take a trip down to the harbour at Southwold. Amongst the chandlers and boat builders is a chip shop - Mrs T's - fish and chips cooked to order fresh from the sea that day (not the chips obviously!) Then wander down to the pub at the crossing further down the river for ...

Re: Wipers

I was the last series 2 wiper guy, but my problem was the other way round. The motor had come away from the rubber mounts on the bracket on mine and was just flapping around in its housing with the n/s wiper not working. I replaced the bracket and greased everything up so the rack ran smoothly throu...

Re: Insurance

We insured my 17 yr old learner daughter through Endsliegh for our series 2 minor. As a learner she cost just over £600.00 Fully comp and legal cover. When she passed it went down to just over £400, again fully comp etc. To insure just me fully comp would have been about £65.00...

Re: Water Leak

That's because it is pressurised and the water is being forced out of the leak-hole. You probably won't see it while the engine is running, but get it up to temperature and then turn it off. You'll see the water dripping from the hole if you crawl underneath for a look. If you've got a 948 or 1098 e...

Re: windscreen wipers

Fitted the new motor bracket today and reassembled the rack and gearwheels, with lots of grease to lubricate the gears and the rack sleeve. After a few goes at getting the rack as straight as possible under the dashboard and with the aid of a cable tie tightened around the rack and heater conduit to...

Re: windscreen wipers

Thanks both I had started to work this out, having found the triangular plate arrangement yesterday and wondered how it then fitted to the motor body, so all the advice has helped get a good picture of it. Looks like I need to get the whole thing out to do a proper once-over and fit the new piece on...

Re: windscreen wipers

Thanks The motor is under the dashboard, tucked away in the corner of the drivers side (r/h drive). The mounts you have kindly linked me to appear different to what I have. The rubber mounts on the body are solid with no holes through the centre of them.I'm beginning to wonder if the round metal pla...

Re: That'll do!

Forty years on from my first attempts I sadly still like to build the odd plastic model kit. I've been searching for a Minor kit for some time and not come across one yet. Does anyone know of a company that makes one? A couple of years ago I came the nearest I'll ever get to an Austin Healey restora...

windscreen wipers

Strange goings on with a couple of things on my 1956 series 2 wipers. The near side wiper won't wipe. I've taken the cover off the wheel housing to check the spindle gear is working and when the wiper is not resting on the windscreen it is working fine. When you put it back on the windscreen it trys...
