Re: Newbie, Fiat TC & Volumex HFO 501 NEW BUILD 2018
Eugene, thanks for the picys on the build has helped me think a lot more on mine. Gonna be really tight fit but will be worth it. Re. your issue with the axle. I have an English axle so personally just going to have to be really careful as already destroyed a diff with my current set up, so not look...

Re: Newbie, Fiat TC & Volumex HFO 501 NEW BUILD 2018
Eugen, looks like some really nice work. Got your PM and I've replied with my mobile number so give me a call it's easier to talk than type, for me anyway. Mines a Lancia Volumex, bought it as a complete unit about 10 years ago. I'll be running the supercharger on a 45, until I get the engine back n...

Re: Newbie, Fiat TC & Volumex HFO 501 NEW BUILD 2018
Hi Fixwheelmad, I'm also fitting a Volumex twin cam to my Moggy. Going around it a slightly different way as I already have a twin cam fitted so currently having the Volumex rebuilt by Guy Croft. Heads done, supercharger is done and the block is in the final stages of build so hope to have it in the...

Re: Original radio
Hi,
my car was bought brand new by my parents in 1966 and it was a special order black, the deluxe model and came with a radio fitted. Don't have the radio any more but it looked fairly similar to the one in the picture but pretty sure it was a Motorola.
Regards,
Wal

Re: Morris 2 litre Twin Cam Dyno Results
Faceplant, it's a full Guy Croft engine, information below. It is expensive but you get what you pay for and the engine delivers the results. I wouldn't bother taking my twin cam to anyone else. Re: Morris 2 litre Twin Cam Dyno Results
That's nice Heathy12, good steep curve. Take off must be great fun.
The drop off looks a bit harsh though.
Like the force fed, got the supercharger version for mine. Just trying to find the time.....

Re: Bit of fun: post pics of your fave modded moggy's
Hey Ratrodmog that's my Moggy with the child seat in the back. Think that must be an older picture though because I've uprated the child seat to a newer model. My 2 year old daughter loves it and calls it the Brumm Brumm car.

Morris 2 litre Twin Cam Dyno Results
Dear all, finally got my Morris properly tuned this year by a decent rolling road and engineer. Just thought I'd share the results, it was done back in the summer and I've been enjoying it too much to post before. Peak power is 167.6 BHP at 7,500 rpm. Peak torque is 142.7 lb/ft at 5000 rpm. More imp...

Re: beware Car Buyers
Dear all, can I also add that if you do bid, on ebay or where ever then, don't muck the seller about either. If you don't ask questions or don't look then that is a decision made. Deciding you can't be bothered to turn up or subsequently deciding perhaps I'll have a look after all but don't really w...

Re: escort axle handbrake cable issue
ohc_turbo, I have the RS2000 rear axle on my Moggy and I just made some pieces of flat bar to make up the extra 3", with holes in each end to put a fixing pins through. I used 3 pieces (1 joined to 2 to give equal pull on the cylinder) and allow some articulation. As it's been on there at least...

Re: Larger Petrol Tank
Fuelpump,
I bought a larger fuel tank from a known vendor and it had no internal baffling (fuel sloshed around every where) and no drain plug. I was not impressed and had to modify it myself, though this was at least 10 years ago and hopefully they have improved.

Wal

Re: fiat head bolt
callyspoy, appreciate that this is a bit late and you have already sourced some headbolts but if you prefer I can let you have 6 Guy Croft head bolts, sorry I don't have a full set. The original bolts do suffer with age and can, as you discovered, break. The recommendation is that they should only b...

Re: CARB FOR A FIAT TWINCAM
Hi, I wouldn't bother with twin 45s on a Fiat Twin Cam unless the engine is already tuned to probably over 150 BHP. Twin 40's will do up to that stage and quite frankly with twin 45's on much less than that you'll only be wasting petrol for practically no improvement. Without tuning the rest of the ...

Hi,
what about cars like the Triumph Spitfire. It has a separate chassis but the sills of the body are structural?

Re: 'Q' reg, no free tax, and £450 for an MOT!
Hi, Yes, thanks for the information and work that ACE are doing it’s very useful to have a summary of the background and clarifications. Although these rules have existed for 27 years there is some suspicion over “clarification” and “application” after 27 years! Why? If it’s fit for purpose use it i...

Re: 'Q' reg, no free tax, and £450 for an MOT!
Appreciating that these rules have been there for 27 years, either they were right to start with and should have been applied or they were wrong initially and should actually be replaced with something more sensible not now amended to suit a current mood. Taking 27 years to either clarify properly o...

Re: 'Q' reg, no free tax, and £450 for an MOT!
Dear all, Maybe I’m cynical but I find it difficult to fully believe that this type of legislation is really, as Jonathan has suggested “simply an attempt to make sure that modified cars are safe for the road.” If that was the case then there are better ways in which it could be addressed. Such as i...

Keith, you say the carb was on your 131 before transplant. If it worked fine on that I'd very much doubt that it's the carb. Are you sure about the engine, they are 30 years old. I'd do a compression test and check out the ignition system to make sure it's firing on all 4, as you say you timed it up...
