Re: Diff oil
We still have a very (as in at least 30+ years) old tin of Castrol grease which came in a metal tin, with a prise lid and has the metal disc with the hole.

Re: Diff oil
Can now confirm Carlube grease (metal tin with prise off lid) does not come with the inner disc with the hole.

Messageboard still very slow - 5 second loading times.
I know I posted in the 'S L O W' thread a few days ago, but it's really slow compared to how it used to be. I mean, it's 5 seconds - this might not sound much, but it used to be barely a second for a link to load and now every link I click on takes 5 seconds. I decided to try it on Chrome, in case s...

Re: Diff oil
It’s no longer featured in this tin, anyone know if this omission is the way now or maybe just the make of grease. Interesting to hear. I haven't opened any of the grease we recently got, but it makes me wonder if ours will be the same. The silly thing was that at the time of purchase you could get...

Re: S L O W
I'm still finding it much slower than it used to be.
It isn't horrendous, but you're still waiting longer than you used to just to:
load the main forum, load a sub-forum, load a message, bring up the login, login, post this message, submit the message (and edit the message) and re-submit the message.

Re: Multimeter recommendation
I'm on my first multimeter, a new, cheap eBay one for £5~ bought at least 20 years ago and still working fine.
However, I'm on my second set of leads/prongs as they fall apart (this current set is now taped up as they too fell apart, but not as badly as the originals).

Re: Diff Oil Amount.
I guess the oil I couldn't get out of the syringe would have made the final amount up to the 0.99l for it to start overflowing (wasn't much, maybe a soup spoon at most).
Still, considering only 0.5l came out in the first place, there's definitely a good amount in now

They say call for bespoke options so maybe they can fabricate the swan neck style shown by firedrake1942.

Re: Mirrors
Okay, so the quarterlight would open, but you'd lose your view (and potentially your mirror since the mirrors can loosen over time)
(and I forgot I had it on the glass, not the frame).

Re: Mirrors
I fitted mine into the metal of the door frame where the quarterlight straight glass section is.
I'm pretty sure the quarterlights can't be used now either from memory.

Re: What Might Have Been
despite their bulk. People say alot of the bulk with modern cars is down to all the modern safety features that now have to be fitted, along with all the additional crash protection bars etc. I was surprised to see the concept still had a bonnet flash, would have thought pedestrian safety would hav...

Re: seat restoration
This is only what I've read so whether true or not I couldn't say 100% but... Apparently vinyl has an outer layer, this is the glossy top layer. Some cleaners can destroy this layer, leaving only the vinyl underneath. If that's the case then it's possible that your top layer is gone. However I did s...

Diff Oil Amount.
I have a 1963 1098 with the diff that has the filler plug directly facing you when looking from the rear bumper. I've drained the diff, and replaced the oil. However, according to the capacity charts the diff takes 0.84 litres, while others say to just fill it until it weeps from the filler hole. I ...

Re: Morris Minor Pickup 1965 not starting
I'm curious as to why the starter solenoid is all the way down there, is that a pickup thing? (the hole in the bulkhead suggests to me no). Surely that's a terrible place in regards to water splash up while driving? Also, maybe it's to do with that switch on the speedo, but I wonder what that lucas ...
