True, I did wonder about it. Of course, it's only been doing it for 14 years or so now :D

What if you use two hands to pull it? Does it start instantly that way?

I know that sounds an odd question, but mine now only starts if you pull it with two hands, used to only need one.

Re: Garage recommendation Bristol/Bath area?

but any garage which has difficulty working on such a simple mechanism operating drum brakes would never get my business for anything. But where's the OBDII port ! I wonder what happened to all the people who worked for Charles Ware, I mean, they must have got jobs somewhere and would have t...

Re: its a bit of a shock.

I learned to drive on the same Morris Minor that I have now, 35 years later. I have never banged my head on the bonnet (but maybe I have and hit my head so hard I cannot remember!). It's the older style of boot prop shaking out in high wind and letting the boot lid drop on your head you have to wat...

Interesting camping photo on eBay

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334865414528 Looks like the poles go into arms that are bolted to the quarter light metal corners. I wonder if you could do the same with a roof rack and platform.... :D https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/335369428357 (looks a big caravan to tow, but I guess at 40? mph limit for t...

Re: Noise from the rear end!!

There are many reports of disappointed owners who have bought leaf springs from the major suppliers only to find that the springs have gone flat in not much more than a year so sadly this could be the case for your springs fitted 5 years ago. I was aware of this so I ordered springs from Jones Spri...

Re: Noise from the rear end!!

just behave and stop making your own jokes up. :D always someone spoiling our fun :-( I take it you checked the rear seat base/back are properly in place/tightened? Also, maybe first try lifting and looking under the rear seat base in case there's something in there (it's a great storage space :D)....

And currently it's back to the 5 second slowdown.

Maybe this and my above post will allow you to log trace when you get the time :)

Re: Diff oil

We still have a very (as in at least 30+ years) old tin of Castrol grease which came in a metal tin, with a prise lid and has the metal disc with the hole.

Can now confirm Carlube grease (metal tin with prise off lid) does not come with the inner disc with the hole.

Messageboard still very slow - 5 second loading times.

I know I posted in the 'S L O W' thread a few days ago, but it's really slow compared to how it used to be. I mean, it's 5 seconds - this might not sound much, but it used to be barely a second for a link to load and now every link I click on takes 5 seconds. I decided to try it on Chrome, in case s...

Re: Diff oil

It’s no longer featured in this tin, anyone know if this omission is the way now or maybe just the make of grease. Interesting to hear. I haven't opened any of the grease we recently got, but it makes me wonder if ours will be the same. The silly thing was that at the time of purchase you could get...

I'm still finding it much slower than it used to be.

It isn't horrendous, but you're still waiting longer than you used to just to:

Re: Multimeter recommendation

I'm on my first multimeter, a new, cheap eBay one for £5~ bought at least 20 years ago and still working fine.

However, I'm on my second set of leads/prongs as they fall apart (this current set is now taped up as they too fell apart, but not as badly as the originals).

Re: Diff Oil Amount.

I guess the oil I couldn't get out of the syringe would have made the final amount up to the 0.99l for it to start overflowing (wasn't much, maybe a soup spoon at most).

Still, considering only 0.5l came out in the first place, there's definitely a good amount in now :)

Okay, so the quarterlight would open, but you'd lose your view (and potentially your mirror since the mirrors can loosen over time) :D
(and I forgot I had it on the glass, not the frame).

Re: Mirrors

I fitted mine into the metal of the door frame where the quarterlight straight glass section is.

I'm pretty sure the quarterlights can't be used now either from memory.
