Thanks for advice on tightening damper bolts will try that next.pleased to report the following: New damper stops fitted ok after a struggle. Has made a huge difference to ride.the old ones had witness marks in the bare metal...however....this prob means that ride height is now too low as damper arm...

Thanks for the advice looks from the diagram that the lower section of the bracket must be under a bit of tension as it is offer from the upper bit. Fitting them today so will be interesting

The damper rebound stops arrived today. The bracket has 3 holes 2 upper 1 lower. I was surprised to see that the plate with the top 2 holes is offset compared to the bottom plate which has only 1 hole. Thanks for the advice. I will change oil and fit stops this weekend. No i dont think suspension is set too low. It certainly was just after restoration. It seemed to sag after rebuild. However i retrimmed torsion bars last year so have a fair bit of clearance now. Lets hope this does trick Best rega...

Play in front wheel bearings
Hi all ive fitted a new front wheel bearing on my van after experiencing play in the old one. I still have some play and so need to find somewhere i can buy a shim.
Can anyone suggest where i can find a shim please? And ifposs what size i need?

When i restored the van i never put the suspension high enough it was so low it was touching the stops maybe the geometry is slightly different if its at ock bottom? Who knows.........

Van wheel spacers
Ive got a 6cwt van with 4.5j wheels 165 tyres. Just trimmed suspension and now tyres are rubbing slightly against trunnions on inside.
Anyone know where i can get some thin spacers to bring the wheels out a little?

If this hadrian panel is the floor strenghthening panel for a van then ive checked with some old off cuts and they are slightly bigger though similar profile, so prob not suitable

Ive also just found it helps to stop blowing up your coils if you have an engine earth strap!.......

I dont know anywhere that sells them off the shelf. No didnt retorque head didnt know you had to.
Its only done about 40 miles since did gasket
but i suppose its not worth trying to tighten it down to see if that works? Or is it a gonner?

Oh dear still had probs. Got mate to look at points seemed to make difference. But then disaster took out for test drive tonight started spluttering again on and off. Thanks for the coil pointer Chrisryder. Turns out thats what it was. I went to Charles Wares of Bristol who had had a number of coil failures with the same coil. Turns out that the coils were under filled with oil by the manufacturer, so when placed horizontal not all coils were covered hence overhe...

Interesting idea chrisryder. Ref coil Though problem is it's a new coil and the car has only done about 200 miles so unless it's faulty I can't think that it could be oil? Unless I just try yet another one for the sake of a few quid
