I had a MG Midget which I restored and put on the road in January 1995 and I needed a battery and got one off a van that was going for scrap and the battery was not new when I put on my car and that battery lasted for about 23 years before it would not hold charge anymore.

My van was with Footman James until March but the price they wanted kept going up and my van broke down in February and would not send out a breakdown as they said it was to cold for them so luckily I fixed it and now with another company which I had my MG insured with.

My Morris van gets called plenty of names most are not repeatable.

I did not even have to remove the distributor just two bolts that hold it on a nut for the cable and two connections all done in less than hour and the bolts that hold it on where easy to undo which I thought might have been rusty.

I worked on my Morris yesterday as I had to fit a new starter motor an it was an easier job than I thought it was going to be which was nice for a change as normally everything takes ten times longer than normal.

I learnt off my dad and I did a night class. My dad used to work for Vauxhalls in the early 1960s and they always needed welding even on new cars.

Before I got my van a garage had restored it in the early 1990s and changed the colour to teal blue before it was antelope brown.

I went to drop my mower to be repaired today in Chesham and took it in my Morris van and when I left there was a white Morris Traveller following me towards Chesham.

I went to a very local classic car show today in the village I live in as I don't normally do car shows and apart from mine there was only one other Morris Minor a blue convertible. There were hundreds of cars MGs,Fords,Rolls Royces etc.

My 1971 Morris van had only done 47000 miles and had old MOTs but it came from the Isle of Wight and thats not big. I had a 1968 A35 van which I got in 1996 and that had done 342000 miles and I knew it had as i had all the old MOTs and sold it in 2011 with 369000 miles on it and it is still going.

A couple of weekends work and a bit of t cut and polish and it will be ready for the road

I checked and it is taxed and insured. I googled the number plate and there was a photo of it being towed behind a van.

The garage has agreed to have a look at it tomorrow and they had left a tool for doing connections under the bonnet. The lights were working when it took it in.
