Re: Window Frame Removal
its probably the threaded plates on the outer leg catching on the lock or the winder mechanism on the window maybe? it can be quite a struggle...i managed to get one frame out along with the window in the frame but the other had to come out with the window in the door. you may find you have to tilt ...

Re: speedo readings with a 3.9 diff??
As above satnavs are really accurate but using a truck is a good guide aswell...most trucks are restricted to 54mph so if you find one thats overtaking its almost a guarantee that they're on the limiter and as has been said, the trucks use tachographs which have to be calibrated/checked every 2 year...

Re: welders
from personal experience, gasless welders are only good for thicker gauge metal but so long you are careful not to burn through and have a good 40 grit flap disc on a grinder it should turn out ok. as for the polarity - gasless welders use a positive earth and negative torch, this is generally chang...

Thinking about it if you like to have a tall ride height you could make a minor landy hybrid

Re: 1966 2 door saloon (Bugsy)
thats quite a good idea, i think i may change the carb and rockers for now and i'll port the original head, put some hardened valve seats in and run it for a while then change the head or even just chuck a 1275cc in there in say 2/3 years.

Re: Should i...?
Well tim, As ive only recently got a minor i dont know it all but i know enough as to tell you that the minor is probably one of the easiest cars to get parts for whether its original or customised. Re: Will budget Project 1963 Minor 659 FBE
I must say that looks like you got a great buy, mine was twice the cost with probably 5x as much welding needed. Are you keeping it the same colour? or doing something exotic :D the total spend is really good idea and will be quite interesting to see what happens, don't forget labour costs  Goo...
