Thanks Mike, I have two spare 1/2 shafts, used and fairly old, so may keep them in the back for a just in case

Re: 1/2 Shafts

No need to touch the brakes. Not even if you had to replace a broken shaft. I'd leave them alone until when/if they break. Some people seem to get through lots, and some never break any at all. So long as you don't 'drop the clutch'. ie: put loads of revs on before violently raising the clutch. You...

1/2 Shafts

I probably already know the answer, but some new light may be thrown up. 1. Having fitted a 1275 engine and a 5 speed gearbox, is it advisable to fit new 1/2 shafts, or am I being a bit too paranode, it isn't anything too powerful after all. 2. Are there any problems fitting said 1/2 shafts, ie do I...

Re: Informing DVLA

They need to be informed of a change of engine - new number and new cc if different from size on V5. That's all they are interested in. Just complete the relevant section on the V5 and send it off. However, I'd recommend keeping a photocopy of the original in case things get lost. Pete Hi granneb, ...

Informing DVLA

What is the general opinion regarding modifications and the DVLA Is it a legal requirement to tell them about any engine size changes, 5 speed gear box changes, etc, or is it advisable to do so. If they do need to be advised, what is the procedure? A polite letter or something a little more humbling...

I am using this stuff....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300631437843?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Cheaper than Dynamat and easily as good. Blocks out road noise, rattles and keeps heat in on cold days and out on hot. Hi, I used this stuff: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SOUND-INSULA...

Sound proofing

What do members recommend for sound proofing/deadening for a traveller. I done a search and read some posts but still not sure what is the best material around. I was thinking about covering the floor under the carpets and around the gearbox tunnel. I'm also considering fitting replacement trim pane...

Re: 1275 Exhaust

Interested to hear how the difference manifests itself, more torque, more power at higher revs? I found with the engine change initially, that she wasn't quite as lively as I expected, better that the 1098 but I thought it would be better in acceleration. Cruising was easier, I put that down to the...

Re: 1275 Exhaust

As a footnote.......I've changed the exhaust system and I'm pleased with the difference it's made, not sure about money well spent, but there's no pockets in a shroud, so hey ho. Re: Shipside Limited, Loughborough

Tom Shipside opened his Morris dealership in 1913 in Nottingham - I'm not sure when the Loughborough branch opened but my father worked there in the early 50s. I have a 1953 saloon that was supplied by T. Shipside in Nottingham. T. Shipside did build Tollerton Airfield in 1928. Rog Many thanks for ...

Shipside Limited, Loughborough

I've recently discovered that our Traveller was supplied, from the factory, to Shipside's of Loughborough on the 15 August 1968, was wondering if anyone could supply me with any details of the company, which I suppose has gone, as many have. I understand that the Shipside family also had a connectio...

Re: Traveller RNW 832G

The benefits of the scenario however, was that the first traveller I replaced the floors and sills on, I fitted the new wood first, jacked the back of the car up till the new wood fitted nicely, and welded two pieces of angle iron from the top of the rear inner wings to the B post. Nothing moved an...

Re: 1275 Exhaust

You appear to have twin carbs fitted too though, does this mean you have a standard manifold cut in half? Or maybe a cast marina/midget one? Hi The engine is from a midget, the manifold as well, with the existing exhaust persuaded to fit, hence my interest in replacing the exhaust system. Like I sa...

Re: Ford 5 Speed 'box speedo cable fitting.

Hi chaps, does anyone with a type 9 'box have any advice on the routing of the speedo cable? As the cable exit is at right angles to the gearbox, i'm guessing that the cable should exit as straight as possible, however, the chassis rail is quite close meaning that the cable would have to make a pre...
