Re: ‘Cannot use search at this time’

Does it then work OK after 4 seconds? I have seen the message perhaps twice in 20+ years.
Does it make any difference whether yo are logged in or not?

Re: 2025 National Rally

All tickets in the packs that you collect upon arrival, nothing being sent by post (a) because of potential delays (b) cost. The security gate has a list of booked vehicles and people, and once checked, you will be directed to the MMOC check-in where you collect all papers and tickets. From there yo...

Re: Steering wheel locknut

Second hand columns are usually easy to find as they do not tend to wear out. Using a tap and die to re-cut the thread should be the work of only a few minutes.

What, you mean stick them down a hole in the ground with water at the bottom? We're not that sort of club. :o

I love it when the keyboard gets in the way of what you knew you wanted to say :D

Re: Steering wheel locknut

I agree completely, and have the said washer on my Minors, never a problem. For DaveW, remove the steering wheel and double check how the nut performs on the column alone - access and viewing much better than with the wheel in place. The nut should spin easily. Once resolved, refit the wheel and the...

Re: Battery Polarity change

Another option is to move the earth cable to the other side of the battery box and fit a longer cable to the other terminal. This does depend on having the correct style/size of clamp; butr leaves the original battery the same way round.

Re: Quotes going wrong...

Stephen, could you please try quoting Berni's post above, adding your own line and then quote your quote, just to see what happens. Thanks.

Ditto. I cannot make it go wrong with FF, Edge or Chrome, but do not have an IOS device to try.

Re: " Best" Upgrade

If you are going to use the car in the winter, then electrically heated front and rear screens. Good demisting = improved visibility = improved safety. My Minors have always been kept outside, so on a frosty morning, plenty of scraping. With heated screen, go out, start engine, switch on screen. By t...

Re: Quotes going wrong...

There are some articles that suggest this problem is caused by the Safari browser on IOS posting the BB code incorrectly. It makes the initial nested quote incorrectly, and then anyone following that includes the error, regardless of what browser they are using. This would explain why it seems a lit...

Re: Gearbox removal

Without seeing it, it's difficult to know by how much your engine has lowered, but you might need to loosen the front engine mounts and also, of course, disconnect the exhaust and the top radiator hose, all can make a difference. It is also usual to need to first move the gearbox backwards by just e...

Re: Smiths round heater.

Was the switch on or off at the time? If on, then did the fan run? It is not uncommon for sparks to appear when making a connection in this manner, it is not as clean as an on-off switch. If the switch on the heater is faulty, then you could bypass that in order to test the motor. As previously, I r...

White is usually the ignition switched unfused supply to fuel pump, coil, and ignition warning light, taken from the A3 terminal on the fuse box. My preference is to feed it from the fused side A4.

Rally "opens" at 10:00 but admittance to site from 08:30. A timely reminder to anyone attending: you MUST book in advance and supply your vehicle details and the names of all attending in your party, you cannot simply turn up on the day. You can pay on arrival as long as you have booked. I...

Re: Traveller Rear Door Handle

Your handle definitely non standard, but I too prefer it to original. As well as being balanced, the twin arms make it more difficult to attack the retaining screws.

The picture rotation is due to the metadata captured when you took the photo.

You could contact the Club's office info@mmoc.org.uk 01332 291 675 and ask if they have a record of it. If yes, then they can pass your details on to the member concerned.

Re: Running hot

Struggling to get over 50 and running hot. Is anything else hot - are the brakes binding? Is there a tight wheel bearing? Check that each wheel spins freely and smoothly. If disk brakes fitted, was the master cylinder modified correctly? After a run, check that none of the wheels/drums are excessive...
