Re: Disc brake upgrade
I have Ford based disks without a servo. Never felt the need to have one. I believe them to be another level of unnecessary complication. I expect others will disagree.

Re: RUST TREATMENT
I have used Jenolite many years ago but I prefer the rust converters like Trustan etc.

Re: Rust spots on sill
You can get stainless steel sill finishers that look very smart and wont rust. They are bolted on.

In think you will find that these items are made from cast MAZAK. This will not polish and the original items were chrome plated.

Re: Unbelieveable
Years ago a neighbour of mine had a light blue saloon on his drive. It was rusted and had not been moved for several years. A friend of mine offered him £500 for it. The neighbour refused the offer saying that 'these cars are worth a fortune'. two years later he had to pay for it to be removed and s...

Re: Disc brake conversion
Shame as disc brakes are a vast improvement on a Minor. I have Ford based disks fitted thirty years ago and at one time suffered the same as you. It seemed that the brakes were on all the time and the pedal was solid. I fitted a replacement master cylinder and all has been well since. It could be th...

Re: Door alignment
There is some adjustment, though very limited. The problem is that when you align one part, another becomes out of true. Good luck my man.

Re: Clutch pedal biting point.
Hard to say. A friend of mine had a Minor that the previous owner had fitted a racing clutch for some reason. It was almost impossible to drive. There is an adjusting rod just before the operating fork that may improve things for you.

Re: What do you have in your tool kit
I blocked up my hose with a bit of wood taken from the hedge row. I remember reading once that a young chap drove his Minor to India. Somewhere in Africa he had to strip a blocked carburettor. When he put it back together he could not find the throttle needle. He noticed that a nearby bush had very ...

Nice car. I wired mine as in this diagram. They only go on when the lights are on main beam. You may wish to wire each light separately.

Re: Changing brake fluid
I second all that Stephen says. I replaced the complete breaking system in the 1990's and have never had a seized cylinder since. I stress that all brake lines, flexables, wheel cylinders and master cylinder were changed or stripped and rebuilt with new seals. I fitted disc brakes at the same time. ...

Re: Battery Tray/Box Buffer and backing
The rubber buffers have a locating lip and are just pushed in. I replaced my backing with a piece odd rubber or plastic matting that I picked up at work. It was about 2mm thick and has a mottled pattern.

Re: Indicator stalk
I am thinking that maybe the flasher relay is on the blink (pardon the pun). I had a devil of a job getting one that would work for more than a month. I tried different suppliers but the were all the same. I now have led bulbs in the indicators and a modern flasher unit. All is working well. Try a n...

Re: First Post / Potential Owner
Hi Stu. Of course a well maintained Minor can be used as a daily ride. I bought my Traveller in 1979 and used it virtually every working day until I retired twelve years ago. I still take her out now and then. Only twice in all those years did she let me down. Once when the gearbox seized and once w...

Re: Seat base webbing
I replaced my seat straps with new webbing many years age. They eventually went like the old ones so this time I have used the rubber diaphragm type. It has only been a year or two, but every thing is holding up well.

Re: LED stop / tail bulbs and indicator bulbs
It was recommended to me by classic led to use red led's in the stop and tail light and amber in the indicators. Now that's what I call stop lights!
