Re: Misfire when warm, recurring problem
Hi, I have an aftermarket (I think it's Marina) air filter on Florence, (not installed by me) so I can't actually move the inlet pipe for the air filter. FURTHER DEVELOPMENT TODAY I took her into a local garage near where I work. We found that the condenser screw was not fully tightened, and so we t...

Re: Misfire when warm, recurring problem
Hi All, Lots of suggestions here, thank-you! :) The engine seems absolutely fine (if running a little rich) for short journeys, It got me to Cardiff without issue, it was the return journey that caused problems. It seemed to start under load on the motorway, and improved when i reduced my speed down...

Misfire when warm, recurring problem
Hi all, Unfortunately in June I had my moggy stolen. We got it back, but we've had a long list of continual problems since then with pretty much everything. The moron who stole the car managed to trash the clutch and gearbox. I've had them both replaced, and they are now fine. Recently my "afte...

Re-Wiring Hotwired Ignition
Hi All, I need some advice on how to rewire my ignition barrel after it was hotwired when stolen over the weekend. The only wire still attached to the barrel is the Brown with Blue tracer, I seem to have a thick white one, a thin white one and a white and red one? That may not be right, but I'm not ...

Re: Indicators, Wipers and Fuel Gauge Gone
Hi all, replaced both fuses and gave the fusebox a good clean. Now working as good as gold, didn't notice that one of the fuse caps had snapped off from the main glass body of the fuse making it completely useless! Thanks all!

Indicators, Wipers and Fuel Gauge Gone
Hi All, I've had an intermittent issue with my fuel gauge moving all over the place and my indicators some times not working and wipers taking AGES to kick in when switched on. Now all three have completely died, and will not work AT ALL. Looking at the wiring diagram it points towards the instrumen...

Cutting in and out whilst driving
Hi there! Major help needed! This first happened about 500 miles ago, or about 3 weeks... Whilst driving along the motorway, the car cut in and out, in and out repetitively in quick succession, fast enough for the ignition light not even to come on. Recently the issue has got increasingly worse and ...

Squealing Noise
Okay lovely people, diagnoses please if possible. Ive got a squealing in time with the engine (only above 1,000rpm) that is also intermitent (will stop for a mile, then start then stop). Coupled with what looks like very small blue flames coming from a section of the wiring loom. near the distributo...

Re: Leaky Rear Diff
helloo! i managed to manufacture a kind of pump from a commercial washing up liquid bottle top. attach some pipe and it pressurises and pumps in. Then used a white cable tie to push it down into the diff to check the level. Mine hadn't leaked half as much as I expected so whatever you do, don't over...

Re: Leaky Rear Diff
Nope, the filler plug wouldn't come out, so for the time being I've put 1/3 litre in through the breather, just to make sure it doesn't seize whilst pottering around. Ordered the seal you advised, plus the gearbox one as I'll soon be having a clutch fitted. May as well do the whole lot at once reall...

Leaky Rear Diff
Hello lovely very helpful people! Florence has passed her MOT (hurrah!), unfortunately one of the advisories was that the differential has a 'slight' oil leak that i'd describe as much heavier than that. We managed 370 milesreturn to Peterborough and have trundled around locally but I think it certa...

Re: Dynamo Failure
Just as a way to end my part of the thread, but feel free to piggback, it's what it's here for! :) Alternator fitted and running PERFICK, problem solved. I've got a new one now, which I'll start a new thread for! I hate the initial period after you've bought a car that's been off the road for a bit,...

Re: Dynamo Failure
Hi Everyone Followed your advice and the Battery is measuring 11.88v d/c whilst stationary and whilst being revved. I'm gathering this means that the dynamo is not charging the battery? I have got an alternator kit ready to go on, is there anything else I need to do before I go ahead and do it? Than...

Re: Dynamo Failure
Success! Me being the idiot I am tried to set the HT leads up with 1 at the battery and 4 at the rad, easily done I guess. She now runs! When you say I cant have tested the contact breaker without the engine running, I didn't know it had to be running to check it! Learning lots as I go here! How do ...
