Re: Advice needed on vibrating clutch.
First I must apologise for not replying sooner. Since my last post- I have left the original clutch in the car and it is working fine. I have sent the forth clutch (which I never fitted) back to the supplier and received a full refund. I also sent them the bill from my local garage for the work they...

Re: Advice needed on vibrating clutch.
Well on Friday we had the engine out again!!! On taking it out it was obvious to see the miss alignment in the pressure plate. We took the clutch off the fly wheel and from the picture below you can see the problem. [frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1326627555_13057 [/frame] We then had a c...

Re: Advice needed on vibrating clutch.
I have no issue with the garage/mechanics (yet) they have been working WITH me to get this fixed. Since fitting and finding the problem with the first clutch they have taken the engine out about 6 times and checked the flywheel etc. trying to locate the cause of the problem. Engine coming out again ...

Re: Advice needed on vibrating clutch.
Hi all, I have sent the videos to the clutch supplier who very quickly offered to send out yet another replacement clutch. (I’m not complaining but a little too quickly I thought ….maybe they are just really good with customer service?) Their only suggestion for a possible cause of the problem was t...

Re: Advice needed on vibrating clutch.
Well it seems that the general consensus is that the pressure plate has been knocked out of alignment during fitting. Before I go back to the garage is there any other possible cause for this problem? I only ask because after the problem with the first clutch I told the mechanics that this could be ...

Re: Advice needed on vibrating clutch.
BMC What do you mean "smashed" ?? The mechanics who put the engine in for me, assured me that they had put the engine in very carefully (especially as this was the 3rd or 4th time). What would be causing that much miss-alignment? Do you think that if the bush in the tail of the crank is mi...

Re: Advice needed on vibrating clutch.
Hi guys, Sorry for the delay in replying but I have been visiting relatives over Christmas. To give you some idea of the problem and the severity of the vibration I have taken some videos. The first shows the bearing on the left with the pressure plate on the right and the engine being turned over b...

Re: Advice needed on vibrating clutch.
BMC, Is there anyway of checking if the bush is missing/ deteriorated before I remove the engine (again)? RAY, The second clutch was “checked” before it was installed because of the problems with the first one. Unfortunately to what extent it was “checked” I don’t know but no obvious problems were n...

Re: Advice needed on vibrating clutch.
Thank you all for your replies. I’m not a mechanic, so please excuse my ignorance ….. Aupickup: If it’s the thrust washers in the engine wouldn’t the vibration be continuous and not just when pressing the clutch down? MarkyB: I don’t recall noticing the engine shaking around when the clutch was depr...

Advice needed on vibrating clutch.
Evening all, I need some advice on a vibration I’m getting from a new clutch. The engine on my minor died and not being able to afford a reconditioned engine I bought a second hand one. I had my local mechanic fit the second hand engine and at the same time fit a new clutch. All went well except I n...

The story so far and a big thank you!
Hello all, I’m a relative newbie to this forum and minor ownership and I thought I would share our story so far. It was Mandy’s (my girlfriend) 30th birthday back in November and as she has wanted a Morris since before passing her driving test I though what better way to celebrate the occasion (it w...
