Re: Q plate concern
Sandy Hamilton is your man to ask, but quote him from the National liaison meeting don't worry they will eventually see sense it may take a while but if you persist with them, you'll get them to see sense eventually. As said contact Sandy Hamilton.

Re: National Rally.
For those of you complaining about the national being NORTH of the Watford Gap. I did an approx 700 mile round trip to the National this year in Series 2 with an 803 and no problems. The car in Question is in the photos (NIA) Anyway for those of you still complaining 2017/18 Nationals will be SOUTH ...

Re: Tyres (again)
I totally agree with Mike 155x14 running at aprox 30 psi. if you run at recommended pressure on 155's the volume of air inside doesn't inflate the tyre correctly thus damaging the side wall. Think of it this way larger tyre more air to inflate smaller tyre less air. We run our 54 series 2 on 155's a...

That's it there is no problem, they are testing from the book and not allowing for older cars some having fixed seat positions. what would there reaction to a seat in a series II the back rest folds forward and the base tilts up all with no locking system.

Re: Mot
That has been part of the MoT for about a year give or take, what we have to remember is the MoT has left our cars behind and the new batch of testers haven't a clue on how to test our cars. I/we have a combined white front sidelight and indicator it was about to be failed at its last MoT for show a...

For those of you attending the National in your Series 2 saloons the register is planning an afternoon drive out. The drive will start at 3.30pm on Saturday afternoon. It is approximately 60 miles, we're planning two stops on route one for a late afternoon cuppa and another for photo's on the return...

Re: breakdown cover
Be very careful when buying Breakdown cover. I used to be with the RAC until 2 weeks ago for my modern. I had full membership £78 a year. I broke down with a snapped drive shaft at 1.30 in the morning, very helpful operator on the phone, transporter was there in under 45 mins. Post arrived this morn...

Re: 1967 number plate
The law changed as of 1st January 1968 all vehicles registered after that date must use the White/Yellow plates. So yours being a 67 can be black with white/silver. if anyone gives you hassle tell them to look up the Road Traffic Act Construction and use Regulations Regerstration type conformation a...

Re: 1098 gearbox conversion
Surely far simpler to fit 1098 flywheel & clutch and remove remote gear selector on top of 1098 box and re fit.
I have an 803 with 948 internals in the gearbox, removed remote selector and re fitted back to 803 engine.

Re: NAtionals, cheap hotels close by?
Having lived in East Yorkshire for many years previously. As has been said hotels nearby are 10 - 20 miles away. Malton itself is reasonably sized market town. another similar town is Pickering which further North of Malton again. Then you have the seaside towns of Scarborough and a bit further down...

Have just fitted new seat covers and trim to our 54 series II (Maroon) noticed on two panels somebody had hand written a date which was really faded and near to date of production. However the trim taken out was Red where the sun hadn't got to it other parts where of maroon colour. I can only sugges...

Re: Changing Taxation Class
You will firstly need to change the V5 to get it updated to the new Red ones, DVLA records may not show it as it still has old type V5. Once you receive the new V5 you must then complete the parts under any changes to details and then send it back for a revised V5 to then be sent back out. Bear in m...

Re: Historic car road tax renewal
You will still need to apply for Tax in the normal way as you would a modern car. If not it is now a £1000 fine for not paying. If your Tax disc expires after 1st Oct 14 you must still display the disc until it expires, otherwise you commit the offence of failing to display a current VEL (Vehicle Ex...

Re: 1960 Minor MOT
You can't just put an MoT exempt vehicle back on the road after it has stood for x years in a barn or has been under restoration. To obtain MoT exemption if the vehicle does not have a current MoT i. e. as above, you must first have the vehicle MoT'd. Then when that MoT expires you then qualify for ...
