I asked the following re removing the ply piece of wood that holds the head liner http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=40440 Now I’m ready to refit my head liner, the problem is I gave the piece of ply to my welder whose wife is a professional seamstress and made the headliner from materia...

Re: Re-build issues!!
Same thing happened to me, locked solid despite keeping all parts oily, (I did not risk too much force trying to turn it though) First I loosened all the big ends, it then it turned ok, retightened each in turn till it would not turn, everything looked ok on the problem big end to me. A mechanic fri...

Re: Welding
No idea about cost but make sure you give clear instructions to whoever is doing it NOT to patch - have them cut out the rot and the correct gauge steel put in. Also, I personally would instruct them to leave it bare metal so you can do your own rustproofing instead of them applying Schultz, which ...

Re: MOT PASS
I feel confident that my rebuilt traveller will be ok in the spring when finished, but with rebuilt engine, extensive welding, replacement axle, re spray, extensive work on the breaks full rewire etc etc. I want an MOT/safety check just to be on the safe side, plus all that money spent that will be ...

Changing a round 1959 heater to a 1968 with external air
Hi all I have the dash components out including the glove boxes and parcel shelf, as I have rewired my traveller. As I can access the heater I am thinking of changing the round 1959 recirculation heater to a 1968 square heater with external air input, (That I have spare, with air hose to front grill...

Just can't remember what we used the meths for!
Starting blow lamps before we changed to gas, used in plumbing lead cables, I think
It was a long time ago

Re: What if MOTruns out before 18th Nov
Hi When my traveller is ready for the road, as it has had such an extensive amount of welding and had everything removed and replaced bar the front suspension, I will take it for a safety check/MOT, as chrisryder says "for peace of mind". And as dalgrae says I think any vehicle that has be...

Re: Where do I find my drafts? please
Hi Plin
Thanks for that, found where my draft should be but it says no drafts saved.
It must have just disappeared into the PC either.
But now I know where to look.
Thanks again
Reg

Where do I find my drafts? please
Hi
Had some general info that might have been of interest to the ex scooter boys, I replyed to the previous comments and accidently pressed save, and now I can’t find it!
No doubt you will tell me how to find it and I’ll be suitably embarrassed
Thanks
Reg

Re: keys
I have a wrong numbered key in my traveller ignition, but with a jiggle it works. I was at the Malpas Steam rally this weekend and a chap had FP, FS and others, each numbered on separate display boards £1 each. Did he have FP662 that I wanted? NO nearly everything else though I put the key number in...

Thank you for your comments, I was also worried about partially blocking the water drain channels, I think I’ll try to angle them in as suggested.
Again thanks

Re: What are these please?
Thank you all for taking the time to pass comments on my bits of metal, and yes the are a perfect fit over the bolt holes and they cover the spare holes.
When I’ve cleaned them up and painted I will fit under the carpet and put bolts up through the spare holes as was suggested.
Again thanks
Reg

2 door seals and rubber confusion
Hi All Questions 3 of 3 I am about to buy and replace all the rubbers, seals etc on the front doors of my 1959 traveller, I normally get most of my stuff from BM but found it difficult to find all the bits I need as a lot of it was none existent on the original doors, I found one of the other dealer...

Traveller sliding glass channels
Hi All Questions 2 of 3 I am about to replace the channels for the rear sliding glass, the rotted originals had been tacked in, I want to screw it into place, I have experimented with an off cut and can screw down till the flat head is just below the level of the material so the glass will not foul ...

What are these please?
Hi All I have 3 questions 1 of 3 To cut a long story short my 1959 traveller restoration has dragged on and boxes of bits have been shuffled (bit like my brain at the moment). What are these? and where do the go? I seem to remember them being at the back end! They are fairly thin. Thank you very muc...
Re: mopeds
I also am not sure it's true that scooterists and motorcyclists don't mix. A very good friend of mine, we both started school together at 5 years old in 1955, went down different paths, me on bikes and him on scooters, but stayed good mates with a good bit of banter. On the 28th of this month a load...
