Re: Rear brake piston

A good method is remove all surrounding parts especially those in the way. Use a penetrating oil spray, leave for a few hours while doing something else, then tap with hammer to at least get some movement, then cover with an old rag and undo bleed screw and blow compressed air down the screw hole an...

Re: distance of doors from pillars

Hi. This is probably not an uncommon problem on convertibles, as they tend to flex and don't have a top support to restrain them, but when excessive or badly out of alignment they need to be corrected. Some of the methods already mentioned can help to solve the problem, but I am not in favour of pac...

Re: Rust

RE: Rust. This would have to be the greatest enemy of old cars. When rust has eaten thru a section, plastic body filler is not a rust repair method. It needs to be cut back to sound material and a section of new steel welded in. If the rust is surface, then the best methods of dealing with it is, af...

[2] The hood doesn't look and fit right, although I understand it came from a Morris supplier in England. I would rather resolve the fitting pro...

Convertible top fitting problems to MM1000

Previously [June '10]I posted problems I was having with my hood on my restored Minor with no reply. I read with interest the problems 'Swithland' was having with his convertible hood. My problem is different. It seems that the amount of material around the front pillar [windscreentop]also on the in...

Re: Petrol Tank

Hi Rob, I had a similar problem, when I purchased my Minor it had been sitting in a shed for 14 years and condensation had eaten holes right thru the petrol tank, it was like a swiss cheese. Fortunately I was able to purchase a second hand one to suit, in reasonable condition but I wanted to ensure ...

fitting Hood to M.M tourer

I have restored my Minor from the ground up but I am having trouble fitting the Hood. The hood came with the car and was a replacement that was never fitted properly. Unfortunateley some areas were cut to fit the frame and will require stiching by an upholsterer, but I would like to see detailed pic...
