Well spotted Cam, about the ball nut. the rod moves towards the front of the car when pressing the lever I don't see how this can physically posibally occure if it's all set up as in the photos. :-? Hmmm, unless the pedal is getting depressed so much that the relay shaft is turning past it's normal ...

No, that looks correct. The long rod should move towards the rear of the car when the pedal is pressed down, right? If so, thats fine.

Could it have just originally been for a Neutral warning light, light you have on some cars and motorbikes (usually orange or green in colour)?
