No its def not 10w40 I may be mistaken its the one you recommended for lawn mowers do you mean bushes at end of springs?

It is a new rad cap I shall try running without cap on see what happens and try the bottle trick

Car is not sitting on bump stops looks about two to three inches away and yes I did drain all oil out flushed it twice with Tesco Sae40 oil and it is stil banging but only seems to be back rear left ??

Right have given her a run today (not had chance since last post ) and she is def losing water through the overflow ideas?? coudl it be water pump ? only thing I have done is service her and changed the fan belt!!

Ok chaps its me again I have taken rear dampers off and re filled them and they are fine replaced bump stops nd U bolts but she is still banging on rear lft on even the smallest bumps in the road. Not sure to be honest used hose pipe from garage to fill her up again I would estimate maybe a pint of two!!

Thanks guys and yes oil level is fine Do you think I should remove this water heater thing and replace with normal bottom rad hose I have been told they are very rare by and old man down the road who used to be a mechanic!!

Gents, I have come back from five days away to find Maggie (my 1962 two door) with hardly any water in the radiator I did a 60 mile run in her the day before I went away and she was fine. Gents thanks for all the advice I have had another look at the speedo (its a white faced one allegedly 1962) the red light has ignition written underneath it and is on the RHS and the on the LHS is a green light which has Oil written underneath it (should of worn me glasses earlier) I have changed t...

Red Light on Speedo?
Hello all I have a red light on my speedometer which will not go out, I am assuming its an oil pressure light? if it is why does it stay on oil is fine apart from slight leak around bottom pulley at front of engine could this cause this?

Sorry I think I am being thick here just been to Halfords and they dont do SAE 30 or SAE 40 oil is it known as something different? ie SAE 10W30?

Rear Diff and Gearbox oils and drainage
New to all this any ideas on best oil to use on rear diff and gerabox and whats best way of ensuring they are drained correctly and how on earth do you fill the rear diff? (think I have a rear diff leak will this just be a gasket?)
